Haïti, chaque année, plonge le pays dans une crise humanitaire sans précédent depuis 2010. Les récentes démonstrations des civils armés, dans la capitale haïtienne, ont entrainé le déplacement de plus de 15 000 personnes ainsi que des centaines de morts et blessés par balles. Cette nouvelle vague de violence incessante a aussi contribué à rendre difficile l’accès aux services et besoins sociaux de base, ce qui aggrave davantage le quotidien des familles déjà dans la précarité.
Haiti n’arrive pas à faire front à la crise sécuritaire qui ne date pas d’hier. En outre, le pays s’enlise dans une catastrophe humanitaire ajoutée aux flambées de violence, l’instabilité politique, les chocs économiques, sans oublier la famine et la pauvreté. La multiplicité des crises pèse lourd, c’est un fardeau inacceptable sur la population qui semble être condamnée à souffrir.
Selon les chiffres des agences onusiennes, plus de 15 000 personnes, dont la majorité était déjà déplacée, ont été forcées de laisser leur maison à nouveau depuis le 29 février dernier à Port-au-Prince, en raison du chaos programmé par les gangs armés qui s’attaquent à tout ce qu’ils trouvent sur leur chemin. Ce qui complique le quotidien déjà difficile pour les citoyens. Ces attaques répétées sont d’une réalité alarmante de la crise humanitaire.
La plupart de ces déplacés ont trouvé refuge dans des abris ou chez des proches, d’autres se sont installés dans des sites nouvellement créés de façon spontanée. Ces derniers n’ont pas vraiment accès à l’eau, à la nourriture, ni à des kits de santé et d’hygiène.
Les derniers événements ont endeuillé des familles, traumatisé les enfants et plongé la population haïtienne dans le désarroi. Les citoyens se retrouvent sans protection ni sécurité, exposés à tous risques car les autorités gouvernementales et policières sont des abonnés absents.
De nombreuses infrastructures sont fermées ou ont réduit leurs opérations en raison d’une grave pénurie de médicaments et de l’absence de personnel médical. L’eau, le carburant et le gaz propane sont devenus des denrées rares, car c’est un calvaire pour les citadins de s’en procurer. Le prix des produits de première nécessité augmentent considérablement dans ce contexte de crise perplexe.
À chaque épisode de violence, des milliers de familles sont basculés dans la précarité et le besoin d’aide humanitaire se fait ressentir. La population est de plus en plus vulnérable dans ce moment crucial. Haïti est dans une crise humanitaire complexe qui risque de perdurer.
Vivre en Haïti aujourd’hui, c’est être forcé à faire des choix impossibles pour rester en vie, où aller à l’école, à l’hôpital, se procurer de l’eau potable est devenu une épreuve. Franchir le seuil de sa maison, c’est risquer de mourir sous les balles, d’être kidnappé par les groupes armés ou de subir des violences inimaginables venant soit des groupes armés ou des autorités irresponsables et incompétents.
