Le Ministre du Commerce et de l’Industrie, James MONAZARD, a rencontré, le samedi 28 mars 2026, le Vice-Ministre mexicain de l’Économie chargé du commerce extérieur et des affaires internationales, Luiz Tosendo Gutiérrez ROMANO. Cette réunion bilatérale s’est tenue en marge de la 14e Conférence ministérielle de l’Organisation Mondiale du Commerce (OMC), avec pour objectif de renforcer la coopération économique entre les deux pays.
Selon un communiqué du Ministère du Commerce et de l’Industrie (MCI), cette initiative, soutenue par le Premier Ministre Alix Didier FILS-AIMÉ, vise à relancer les échanges commerciaux entre Haïti et le Mexique. Les discussions ont également porté sur l’identification de nouvelles opportunités d’investissement dans des secteurs jugés porteurs pour l’économie haïtienne.
Au cours des échanges, les deux parties ont souligné l’importance de mettre en place un cadre commercial bilatéral plus structuré. Une telle démarche devrait faciliter les transactions, encourager les initiatives privées et améliorer le climat des affaires. Le soutien à l’entrepreneuriat, notamment aux petites et moyennes entreprises (PME), a également été évoqué comme un levier de croissance.
Par ailleurs, les délégations ont discuté de l’organisation de missions de prospection économique. Ces démarches visent à renforcer les liens entre les opérateurs économiques haïtiens et mexicains, tout en permettant une meilleure identification des opportunités de partenariat.
À l’issue de la rencontre, les deux parties ont convenu de poursuivre les échanges dans le cadre d’une réunion élargie, prévue dans les prochaines semaines. Celle-ci devrait réunir des acteurs des secteurs textile et commercial, afin de définir des axes de coopération concrets et poser les bases d’un partenariat économique durable entre Haïti et le Mexique.
