Le gouvernement a annoncé que des différentes mesures ont été adoptées pour accompagner la population aux éventuels dégâts que pourrait causer la tempête tropicale Franklin lors de son passage dans le pays. Il invite les citoyens, surtout ceux qui habitent les zones à risque, à faire preuve de vigilance.
Lors d’un point presse tenu ce mardi 22 août 2023, Le Premier Ministre Ariel Henry a assuré que toutes les ressources gouvernementales, ainsi que leurs partenaires, seront mobilisés en vue de faire face aux éventuelles conséquences du passage de la tempête tropicale Franklin sur les côtes d’Haïti.
Le Chef du Gouvernement a aussi déclaré que la sécurité et le bien-être des haïtiens lui sont très importants. Il assure que le gouvernement et le système national de risques et désastres sont mobilisés à travers le pays pour répondre aux effets dévastateurs de la tempête tropicale avec un plan d’action et un aménagement des ressources pour éviter le moins de désastres possibles.
«L’équipe d’urgence est déjà en alerte et prête à agir si necessaire. La mobilisation en faveur des déplacés internes est maintenue et renforcée. Nous nous engageons à ce qu’ils trouvent un endroit pour s’abriter, pour qu’ils trouvent de l’eau à boire, des supports médicaux», a-t-il dit.
Il invite la population à s’informer sur l’évolution de la tempête à travers les médias et de suivre les conseils des autorités en matière de protection. Il déconseille de voyager en mer jusqu’à jeudi, tout en affirmant que le gouvernement restera en alerte et prêt à aider la population.
Le coordonnateur de l’Unité Hydro-météorologique (UHM), Marcelin Esterlin, a informé que l’alerte jaune est toujours maintenue pour Haïti, mais la vigilance orange pourrait être activée ce mardi. Il indique que la tempête tropicale Franklin se situe à environ 350 kilomètres de Santo Domingo. Il n’écarte pas la possibilité de passer à un autre niveau de vigilance en cas d’évolution de la tempête tropicale.
