L’Ambassadeur, Déléguée permanente de la République d’Haïti auprès de l’UNESCO, Madame Dominique DUPUY, a officiellement soumis la candidature du Konpa/Compas d’Haïti pour son inscription sur la liste représentative du patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’Humanité, dans un communiqué publié le 26 mars 2024.
Le Konpa/Compas, une forme de musique et de danse emblématique, représente un pilier essentiel du patrimoine culturel immatériel haïtien. Sous ses différentes variantes, telles que Compas Direct, Hounsi, Boule de feu, et bien d’autres, il offre un espace de reconnaissance et de célébration pour les Haïtiens, qu’ils soient en Haïti ou à l’étranger.
Inscrit au Registre national du patrimoine culturel immatériel haïtien en 2019, le Konpa/Compas incarne la cohésion sociale et joue un rôle central dans la vie culturelle du pays. Cette soumission constitue la troisième proposition d’Haïti à la liste depuis la ratification de la Convention de 2003 pour la sauvegarde du patrimoine culturel immatériel, après la Soup joumou/Soupe au giraumon et la Kasav/Cassave.
La Déléguée permanente exprime sa gratitude pour le soutien massif en faveur de cette candidature, ainsi que les efforts concertés, déployés au sein du groupe de concertation « Konpa/UNESCO », réunissant la communauté du Konpa/Compas et de nombreuses associations culturelles, notamment l’Association pour la Musique et la Danse Haïtiennes (AMDH).
La Délégation permanente d’Haïti auprès de l’UNESCO tient à remercier le Ministère des Affaires étrangères, le Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, ainsi que tous les acteurs impliqués dans la production de la vidéo et des photos, les membres de la Commission nationale haïtienne de coopération avec l’UNESCO, les chercheurs de l’Université d’État d’Haïti, et l’expert en patrimoine, M. Ricarson DORCÉ, pour leur contribution scientifique au dossier.
En conclusion, cette candidature représente un pas de plus vers la reconnaissance mondiale de la richesse culturelle d’Haïti. Vive le Konpa/Compas d’Haïti ! Vive le patrimoine culturel immatériel haïtien, source d’inspiration et de fierté pour les générations présentes et futures !
