Face à l’intensification des affrontements entre groupes armés dans la commune de Cité Soleil, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) a annoncé la suspension temporaire de ses activités médicales. Cette décision intervient dans un contexte sécuritaire particulièrement tendu depuis le 10 mai 2026.
Dans un communiqué daté du 11 mai 2026, l’organisation humanitaire explique que les violences armées enregistrées dans plusieurs quartiers ont provoqué un important afflux de blessés par balles vers son centre hospitalier. En quelques heures, des dizaines de patients ont été pris en charge par les équipes médicales.
Par ailleurs, des habitants ainsi que des membres du personnel ont également trouvé refuge à l’intérieur des installations pour échapper aux tirs.
Selon MSF, la situation s’est davantage détériorée à la tombée de la nuit avec l’intensification des échanges de tirs. Face à cette escalade de violence, l’organisation affirme avoir procédé à l’évacuation de son hôpital.
Médecins Sans Frontières souligne que les conditions actuelles ne permettent plus d’assurer la sécurité des patients ni celle du personnel médical. L’organisation médicale estime également que l’ampleur des affrontements rend impossible, pour le moment, la poursuite des soins dans la zone.
