Autour du thème « Rekonsilyasyon pou lapè », la Mairie de Port-au-Prince a organisé, après plus de trois ans, les festivités carnavalesques au cœur du champ de Mars les 19, 20 et 21 Février 2023. Un carnaval inaccoutumé qui se fait en plein jour, avec une miniature de chars sonorisés, et quelques bandes déguisées.
Depuis 2019, les Haïtiens n’ont pas eu droit à un carnaval National. Toutefois, en dépit des différentes crises auxquelles le pays fait face actuellement, certaines villes comme : Port-au-Prince, Cap-haïtien, Jacmel et autres ont organisé leur propre carnaval dans leur commune respective.
Pour la capitale, comme tu prévu par La Marie de Port-au-Prince, le carnaval s’était déroulé du 19 au 21 Février 2023.
Avec le climat de peur et d’inquiétude qui règne sur tout le territoire haïtien, la grande foule traditionnelle n’a donc pas répondu à l’appel le Dimanche 19 Février pour le coup d’envoi des festivités carnavalesques de la ville. Toutefois, la Police Nationale d’Haïti s’était largement déployée dans l’aire métropolitaine pour assurer la protection des carnavaliers.
Par ailleurs, lors du deuxième jour gras, les bandes à pieds et quelques bandes déguisées ont défilé au champ de mars. Contrairement au premier jour, des milliers de carnavaliers étaient présents, mais, pas comme les années précédentes où une bonne partie de la population se précipitait pour se déhancher aux sons des différents chars musicaux. Cependant, on a recensé une personne morte par balle au cours de cette deuxième journée festive.
La Mairie a bouclé le carnaval de Port-au-Prince le Mardi 21 Février 2023. La foule a été assez immense, certains carnavaliers, qui n’ont pas eu l’opportunité de participer dans les deux(2) premiers jours, se sont rendus au champ de Mars.
D’un côté, les organisateurs ont exprimé leur satisfaction pour les trois (3) jours gras qu’ils affirment avoir réussi. Cependant, d’un autre côté, on ne peut en dire de même pour certains participants « durant les 3 jours gras, le trajet a été très court, et les activités festives n’étaient pas comme les années précédentes » a martelé un carnavalier très en colère.
À noter que c’est pour la première fois, le parcours est fixé de 10 heures AM à 6 heures PM. Peu de bandes à pieds, Au moins trois(3) chars musicaux, contrairement à la tradition qui réunissait des dizaines de groupes musicaux du pays.
En guise de rappel, le gouvernement a alloué une somme de 15 Millions de gourdes pour le carnaval de Port-au-Prince. Par contre, l’Hôpital de l’Université d’État d’Haïti (HUEH) reste, depuis quelques mois, dysfonctionnel. De plus, les rues de la capitale sont encombrées d’immondices. Sans compter les différents maux auxquels confronte la population de l’aire métropolitaine.
La période carnavalesque est un moment de partage, et de rencontre. Par contre, des Milliers de personnes dans l’arrondissement de Port-au-Prince n’ont pas pu participer, à cause du climat sécuritaire du pays, bien que les activités aient été programmées en plein jour.
Le carnaval est une entreprise touristique qui gère la promotion de la culture haïtienne. Nombreux sont les touristes qui ont voulu participer mais qui n’ont pas pu à cause des bandes armées qui terrifient la population haïtienne. Le carnaval en Haïti a non seulement une importante capitale sur le plan socio-culturel mais également sur l’aspect économique. Durant la période des festivités, les Hôtels, Restaurants, petites entreprises, marchands et autres, accumulent une recette assez considérable. Malheureusement le pays a perdu cette tradition depuis bien des années, et qui sait, quand Haïti pourra danser son carnaval traditionnel?
