Les gangs armés secouent la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince depuis ce jeudi 29 février 2029. La capitale haïtienne et ses environs ont tremblé face aux tirs nourris qui ont retenti dans plusieurs quartiers durant ces dernières 48 heures. Plusieurs personnes sont victimes lors de ces nouvelles journées de terreur.
Alors que le Premier ministre Ariel HENRY se trouve actuellement à Nairobi, au Kenya pour définir les dernières mises en place pour le déploiement de la Mission multinationale d’appui à la sécurité (MMSS) en Haïti, au même instant la terreur a monté d’un cran dans la zone métropolitaine.
En un claquement de doigt, des tirs se font entendre dans plusieurs quartiers. L’Académie Nationale de Police, le Sous-Commissariat de Portail-Léogane ainsi que le palais national, emblême politique du pays, ont été les cibles des bandits. La première a été attaquée dès l’auba dans la journée du 28 février, l’autre a été vandalisé puis incendié par les bandits armés. Quant au palais national, il a essuyé des projectiles, des dégâts y sont enregistrés. Cependant, les bandits n’ont pas parvenu à s’en emparer.
L’Aérogare Guy Malary, non loin de l’téroport international Toussaint Louverture, n’a pas été épargné pas la fureur des bandits armés. Des impacts de projectiles sont visibles dans les vitres, les chaises de l’espace aéroportuaire. Un avion a été atteint de projectiles. Tous les vols locaux et internationaux ont été annulés.
Des individus armés ont fait aussi irruption aux bâtiments logeant la Faculté d’Agronomie et de Médecine vétérinaire (FAMV) à Damien. Ils ont forcé les étudiants à vider les lieux pour poser leurs forfaits. Un étudiant est sorti blessé au niveau de son oreille gauche.
La peur règne depuis deux jours dans le pays. Les habitants sont obligés de se mettre à l’abri des balles perdus. En dépit de tout, environ une vingtaine de personnes sont blessées par balles. Ces dernières ont été transportées d’urgence à l’Hôpital de l’Université d’État d’Haïti (HUEH). Les activités économiques, commerciales et scolaires sont totalement paralysées dans la capitale haïtienne. C’est le chambardement total.
Face à ces offensives, des milliers de déplacés internes ont été remarqués dans les rues. Les familles sont livrées à elles même face aux groupes armés déterminés à étendre leur influence. Beaucoup d’entre elles n’ont d’autre choix que de quitter leurs foyers sans destination sûre ni certaine. La police n’a pas été aux rendez-vous.
Haïti est engluée depuis des années dans une profonde crise économique, sécuritaire, et politique, qui a renforcé l’emprise des gangs. Ces bandes armées contrôlent environ 80 % de la capitale haïtienne et les crimes violents sont fréquents.
