Migration-USA-Haiti: Malgré les demandes de suspension, une cinquantaine d’Haïtiens déportés par les États-Unis
52 migrants haïtiens sont rapatriés par l’administration Biden, à l’aéroport du Cap-Haitien, le jeudi 18 Avril 2024, rapporte Miami Hérald. Le coordinateur général de l’Office National de la Migration (ONM), Kerwing AIGUSTIN, a déclaré que ces citoyens ont été déportés parce qu’ils étaient en conflit avec la justice américaine, et ceci pour des raisons diverses.
Dans un contexte de crise marqué par la violence armée et l’instabilité politique dans la capitale haïtienne, les autorités américaines ont expulsé 52 citoyens, dont 40 hommes et 12 femmes en situation irrégulière aux États-Unis. Ces derniers ont été acceillis à l’aéroport international du Cap-Haïtien par les responsables de l’ONM.
Ils se trouvaient à bord d’un vol organisé par le Département de la Sécurité Intérieure des États-Unis qui maintient sa politique migratoire envers Haïti, malgré les appels à une cessation temporaire des expulsions.
Il s’agit d’une première vague de deportation en masse après une longue pause de plusieurs mois. Malgré la recrudescence des actes de violence, cela n’a pas empêché aux autorités américaines de déporter ces compatriotes.
Il est à rappeler qu’une demande de politique migratoire a été déposée par plusieurs organisations, en mars dernier, sollicitant une suspension des expulsions des Haïtiens, auprès du président Joe Biden ainsi qu’au secrétaire d’État américain, Antony Blinken, en raison de l’insécurité qui règne dans le pays.
Ces déportations ont été suspendues en février dernier suite à la remontée spectaculaire des violences des groupes armés.
