L’année 2024 s’est imposée comme une cicatrice indélébile dans la mémoire de la population haïtienne. Alors que les gangs armés étendaient leur emprise sur le pays, des milliers de familles ont vu leurs vies basculer dans le chaos. Mais derrière les statistiques terrifiantes, ce sont des voix, des histoires individuelles, qui racontent la vraie douleur de cette année.
Les citoyens ont vécu l’horreur au quotidien. De Solino à Delmas, en passant par Nazon et Poste Marchand, ces témoignages révèlent une réalité bouleversante : une nation où chaque rue, chaque maison, chaque vie est marquée par la peur. À travers leurs récits, les Haïtiens ont affronté, survécu, et parfois même trouvé des éclats de résilience dans une année où tout semblait perdu. Les témoignages révèlent la descente aux enfers.
Marlène, mère de deux enfants, qui venait au marché de Colonie à Pétionville, se souvient avec douleur de ce que lui a laissé l’année 2024: « Quand les gangs ont envahi notre quartier, c’était comme si le ciel tombait sur notre tête. Les tirs ne s’arrêtaient jamais, et un soir, ma maison a été incendiée. J’ai tout perdu, y compris les photos de mes enfants. C’était le pire cauchemar de ma vie », avoue-t-elle.
« J’ai vu un jeune homme abattu sous les yeux de sa mère. C’était le jour où j’ai compris que je devais fuir. Aujourd’hui, je vis à Kenscoff, mais ces images me hantent l’esprit au quotidien », révèle Jean-Louis, chauffeur de tap-tap.
Roseline croyait que l’année 2024 serait meilleure que les 365 jours antérieurs mais hélas! « Avec la mission multinationale d’appui à la sécurité accompagnée de la Police Nationale d’Haïti, je pensais que ce seraient les bandits qui passeraient une mauvaise année, pourtant c’est le contraire », se désole la jeune dame.
Aujourd’hui réfugiée à Maïs Gaté après l’attaque de Solino, elle décrit une vie marquée par une angoisse constante :
« Même loin de chez nous, la peur persiste. Chaque nuit, les tirs résonnent encore dans ma tête, et mes enfants pleurent dans leur sommeil. Je crains que l’année 2025 ne soit pas comme cette année maudite.»
Pour Kethoo, auxiliaire-infirmière âgée de 26 ans, cette année restera la plus sombre de sa vie: « J’ai vu des gens mourir sous mes yeux à cause des balles perdues. Je suis devenue un SDF. À chaque quartier que je traverse, c’est toujours le chaos. Si je pouvais effacer cette année de l’histoire, je le ferais sans hésiter ».
*2024 laisse des cicatrices psychologiques et physiques*
La violence n’a pas seulement brisé des vies, elle a laissé des cicatrices psychologiques indélébiles. Vivianne, autrefois habitait à Delmas 17, se souvient encore des nuits où les détonations l’empêchaient de dormir. Pour elle, c’est la première fois qu’elle a vécu une année comme celle-ci : « Chaque détonation résonnait comme une condamnation. Je voyais mes enfants se recroqueviller de peur et de tristesse. Maintenant, même en sécurité relative, je ne retrouve pas le sommeil».
Selon les rapports du BINUH, environ 5 000 personnes ont perdu la vie sous les balles assassines des gangs armés et 700 000 personnes ont quitté leurs foyers cette année. Les quartiers qui n’ont pas été touchés sont bondés de familles espérant trouver un refuge permanent. Les zones de non-droit se multiplient, et les habitants fuient la violence pour s’entasser dans des camps de réfugiés.
Malgré cette année dévastatrice, les Haïtiens continuent de lutter. Dans ce chaos, une résilience inattendue émerge. Des familles déplacées s’entraident, des communautés tentent de reconstruire. L’année 2024 restera une cicatrice, mais pour beaucoup, elle sera aussi le symbole d’une lutte pour la survie et la dignité.
Ce reportage met en lumière les souffrances vécues par les Haïtiens en 2024, mais aussi leur incroyable capacité à résister.
