Alors que le ministère de l’Éducation nationale avait fixé la réouverture des classes au lundi 11 septembre 2023, les portes de plusieurs établissements scolaires publics et privés sont restées fermées dans la capitale et de nombreuses autres communes du pays. Bon nombres d’élèves n’ont pas toujours gagné les salles de classe alors qu’on entame une deuxième semaine.
La situation n’est pas différente de la semaine dernière pour la rentrée des classes, rares sont les écoles qui ont pu recevoir d’enfants pour cette première journée de la deuxième semaine des classes. Bien que beaucoup plus d’élèves sont remarqués à travers les rues de la capitale mais ce n’est pas la grande foule comme à l’accoutumée.
De nombreuses écoles qui ne fonctionnaient pas reprennent leurs activités aujourd’hui même si ce n’est pas avec rythme ni enthousiasme. Mais dans les classes beaucoup plus d’élèves on été remarqués dans plusieurs écoles que nous avons visitées.
Un directeur d’école rencontré à Pétion-Ville, renvoie cette situation à la violence des gangs armés qui s’étendent sur la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince. Il estime qu’il y a une marque de confiance du côté des parents arguant qu’effectivement ces derniers ont le droit de protéger leurs enfants. Mais il croit que les écoles doivent être exempts de cette situation.
Il informe que bon nombre de parents sont passés à la direction, ces derniers veulent suivre la conjoncture jusqu’au mois d’octobre avant de décider si les enfants vont vraiment à l’école cette année.
« On avait accueilli 15 élèves au total la semaine écoulée mais ce matin on n’en a compté une cinquantaine, c’est déjà un bon point », a témoigne ce dernier.
Un autre directeur d’une école privée de la capitale abonde dans le même sens. Il se dit conscient que le climat d’insécurité et la situation économique sont liés à ce retardement dans la réouverture des classes. Il invite les autorités à venir en aides aux parents et assurer la sécurité des citoyens dans le pays.
Les directeurs des établissements scolaires disent regretter que l’année académique 2023-2024 se déroule dans un contexte de crise jamais vue, mais ils estiment que l’éducation est un chemin important pouvant permettre aux parents de sauver leurs progénitures. Ils invitent les parents à accompagner les élèves et les envoyer à l’école car le droit à l’éducation est primordial.
« Les élèves sont beaucoup plus nombreux certes mais c’est pas la grande foule. Les parents ont peur de livrer leurs enfants dans les rues surtout dans le climat actuel. Mais nous souhaitons que les enfants regagnent les salles de classe car ils sont plus exposés» a-t-il martelé
Le droit à l’éducation continue d’être baffoué à cause de l’insécurité, de la crise sociopolitique et économique actuelle. Toutefois aucune disposition concrète n’a été adoptée pour permettre aux élèves de reprendre le chemin de l’école en toute quiétude.
