Au lendemain d’une pluie, plusieurs quartiers de la capitale haïtienne sont envahis par la boue, les détritus et les eaux stagnantes. Alors que débutent les épreuves du baccalauréat, ce lundi 14 juillet 2025, des milliers d’élèves affrontent des conditions insalubres pour se rendre dans les centres d’examen. Parmi eux, de nombreux déplacés internes, contraints de vivre dans des abris de fortune après avoir fui les violences armées.

En effet, depuis 3 heures du matin, des images devenues virales montrent des rues recouvertes de boue, de sacs en plastique, de restes d’ordures domestiques et d’eaux puantes. L’absence d’un réseau d’égout fonctionnel a transformé plusieurs quartiers en zones à haut risque sanitaire. Dans certains tronçons, les élèves ont dû emprunter d’autres routes ou se résigner avec leurs chaussures pour traverser les flaques d’eau. D’autres se sont fait aider par des motocyclistes.

« Pour mon premier jour, c’est ce cadeau que la pluie m’a laissé », lâche un jeune élève, traversant l’avenue Martin Luther King et la rue Cheriez.

 

Parmi les plus affectés, on retrouve des candidats vivant dans des écoles transformées en abris. Selon le témoignage de Junior Legagneur, rencontré au Collège La providence de Delmas 41, étudier pour lui est de plus en plus difficile, vu sa situation. Il évoque le manque de confort, un stress et la difficulté à suivre ses cours.

Il souligne que la situation n’est pas différente pour plusieurs autres élèves, qui comme lui, sont déplacés. Ils sont issus de quartiers comme Carrefour-Feuilles, Solino et autres, chassés de chez eux par les attaques de gangs armés.

« Je n’ai pas fermé l’œil depuis la nuit. L’eau est entrée dans ma tente, toutes mes affaires sont trempées. Je dois quand même venir vendre pour profiter de l’examen, » témoigne Magalie Brunet, une marchande installée devant ce même centre, logé dans le camp de l’OPC sur la route de Bourdon.

Selon les données officielles, plus de 109 712 élèves sont attendus pour ces épreuves, qui ont démarré ce lundi 14 juillet pour terminer le 17 juillet 2025, sur tout le territoire. Une partie importante d’entre eux est directement touchée par la crise humanitaire et sécuritaire, notamment ceux de plusieurs lycées du centre-ville.

Port-au-Prince débute la semaine des examens dans la désorganisation et la saleté. À la crise sécuritaire et humanitaire s’ajoute maintenant une crise sanitaire aggravée par les pluies. Pendant que les élèves tentent de sauver leur avenir, l’État reste aux abonnés absents.

Si pour les examens de 9e année fondamentale, des bus de la compagnie Dignité étaient visibles dans plusieurs zones; pour la terminale, aucun dispositif spécial de transport n’a été visiblement mis en place, selon nos constats dans plusieurs rues

Parallèlement, un autre fait attire l’attention dans un centre à quelques mètres. Plusieurs surveillants ont eu du mal à arriver à l’heure, arguant qu’ils ont été astreints à l’embouteillage créé des pluies de la veille, obligeant la circulation à fonctionner au ralenti. Dans ce centre, ils ont attendu plus d’une heure avant de commencer leurs épreuves, selon le témoignage d’un candidat, lui aussi arrivé avec 30 minutes de retard.

Par ailleurs, plusieurs internautes sur les réseaux sociaux dénoncent le silence des autorités. Des messages de leur part, allant dans un seul sens, soulignent que c’est grâce à une volonté de s’en sortir que certains élèves tiennent bon malgré tout.

Alors que les autorités promettent une politique basée sur la jeunesse, rappelant fort et très souvent que les jeunes sont les piliers de la société, la réalité du terrain est différente de leurs discours. Sans infrastructures, ni sécurité, la jeunesse haïtienne continue d’avancer, avec leurs rêves menacés par le silence des dirigeants.
