La situation sécuritaire en Haïti se détériore à un rythme alarmant. Chaque jour, de nouveaux quartiers tombent sous le contrôle des gangs armés, forçant des milliers de citoyens à fuir leurs foyers. Delmas 30, autrefois un quartier animé, est désormais un territoire livré à la violence et à la terreur.
Dans la nuit du 24 au 25 février 2025, des hommes lourdement armés ont envahi Delmas 30, laissant derrière eux un spectacle de désolation. Des témoignages glaçants décrivent des maisons incendiées, des tirs nourris et des exécutions sommaires.
« J’ai entendu des cris, des rafales d’armes automatiques, puis un silence glaçant. J’ai compris que je devais partir, sans même me retourner », fustige Jean-Robert, ancien résident de Delmas 30.
Des centaines de familles ont fui, emportant avec elles seulement quelques affaires essentielles. Les rues sont remplies de parents avec des enfants en pleurs et de personnes âgées épuisées, cherchant refuge dans des camps improvisés à Bourdon, Pétion-Ville et les hauteurs de Delmas.
« Nous allons sûrement dormir à même le sol, sans nourriture suffisante, et la peur va régner », nous dit Marie-France, mère de trois enfants, en quête d’un abri.
L’État impuissant face à la montée de la violence
Malgré les appels à l’aide désespérés, les autorités restent silencieuses ou incapables d’agir efficacement. La Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH) a mené quelques opérations dans la zone, mais celles-ci restent insuffisantes face à la puissance des gangs.
« Nous nous sentons abandonnés, livrés à nous-mêmes. Il n’y a ni police ni justice ici », déclaré Patrick, un habitant en fuite.
Delmas 30 n’est pas un cas isolé. De nombreux quartiers de Port-au-Prince sont déjà sous le contrôle de groupes criminels, qui imposent leur loi par la violence. Pendant ce temps, la crise humanitaire s’aggrave, et les organisations locales peinent à fournir une aide adaptée aux déplacés.
Les habitants de Delmas 30 espèrent un jour rentrer chez eux, mais cela semble impossible sans une réelle volonté politique et des actions concrètes contre les gangs. En attendant, la survie devient leur seul combat, dans un pays où l’insécurité ne cesse de gagner du terrain.
