Deux mouvements de protestation ont eu lieu ce mercredi 28 août 2024, dans plusieurs régions d’Haïti, notamment à Fond-Parisien, Ganthier, et dans la ville des Gonaïves. Les manifestants dénonçaient les actions des gangs armés qui sévissent dans ces régions et exigeaient que l’État haïtien prenne ses responsabilités pour mettre fin à ces violences.
À Fond-Parisien et Ganthier, plusieurs centaines de citoyens, pour la plupart vêtus de blanc, sont descendus dans les rues pour réclamer la libération de Ganthier. Ces manifestants, issus de la commune de Ganthier, se sont joints à ceux de Fond-Parisien dans un mouvement commun pour exiger que l’État combatte le banditisme rampant dans le pays. Munis de pancartes et élevant leurs voix, ils ont exprimé leur ras-le-bol face à l’inaction des autorités.
Il est important de noter que les habitants de Ganthier et Fond-Parisien vivent sous la menace constante des gangs armés, notamment du groupe 400 Mawozo. De leur côté, les habitants des Gonaïves subissent la violence du gang Kokorat San Ras et de celui de Gran Grif.
Ces derniers temps, les actes de violence se sont intensifiés dans ces régions. Les gangs ont récemment détruit une partie du sous-commissariat de Ganthier, brûlé un véhicule blindé de la Police nationale d’Haïti (PNH) et pris le contrôle des douanes. Ces actes s’ajoutent aux nombreux dégâts déjà enregistrés dans le département de l’Artibonite.
