Trois véhicules ont été attaqués, dans la matinée du mardi 21 janvier 2025, par des bandits armés dans la commune de Cité Soleil, plus précisément à Carrefour Vincent. Parmi ces véhicules, deux appartenaient au Consulat honoraire de l’Inde en Haïti. Cette attaque a fait environ cinq blessés et un décès.
Les deux voitures touchées par cet événement tragique appartiennent à Eddy Handal, Consul honoraire de l’Inde. L’incident s’est produit alors que les véhicules se rendaient à l’entreprise dudit Consul honoraire, située à Sarthe.
Parmi les blessés figure Jenny Handal, la fille Handal, qui a été touchée d’un projectile au pied. Les autres blessés sont des employés de l’entreprise. Selon nos informations, les blessés sont actuellement hors de danger.
Un employé de l’entreprise, souhaitant garder l’anonymat, a avoué, à notre salle de rédaction, la répétition de tels incidents. « _Les bandits armés avaient détourné un camion de marchandises et pris en otage le chauffeur durant le mois de décembre_ », a-t-il précisé.
Cet incident s’ajoute à la longue liste d’attaques menées par les gangs armés, qui continuent d’imposer leur loi à la population. Il convient de noter que, depuis lundi dernier, la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH) tente de prendre le contrôle de la situation à Carrefour Vincent, dans la commune de Cité Soleil.
Cette attaque met en évidence l’ampleur de l’insécurité dans la zone, touchant aussi bien les citoyens haïtiens que les diplomates étrangers. Les gangs armés continuent de terroriser les habitants et de perturber les activités économiques dans plusieurs régions du pays, notamment à Cité Soleil.
Les autorités gouvernementales se trouvent face à un défi majeur pour rétablir la sécurité et garantir la protection des vies humaines dans ces quartiers sensibles. Le renforcement de la présence policière et de l’action judiciaire reste essentiel pour mettre fin à cette spirale de violence qui affecte quotidiennement de nombreuses victimes.
