Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) alerte sur la détérioration rapide de la situation sécuritaire à Port-au-Prince. L’organisation a annoncé la fermeture temporaire de ses centres de soins à Turgeau et à Carrefour, en raison des violences armées qui paralysent l’accès aux soins pour des milliers de personnes.
Lors d’une conférence de presse tenue à Pétion-Ville, les responsables de MSF ont décrit un contexte de plus en plus dangereux pour les équipes médicales et les patients. « 60 % des centres médicaux de la capitale ne sont plus fonctionnels. L’insécurité nous oblige à suspendre certaines de nos activités, y compris le transport des patients en ambulance», a expliqué Mumuza Muhindo, Chef de mission de MSF. Il a notamment évoqué le cas d’une femme blessée par balle qui n’a pu rejoindre l’hôpital de Tabarre que le lendemain, en raison de violents affrontements dans la zone de Clercine.
Ses collègues, Benoît Vasseur et Diana Manilla Arroyo, ont partagé le même constat. « Nous espérons pouvoir reprendre nos activités si les conditions s’améliorent, mais nous n’avons plus confiance dans les promesses des autorités», a déclaré Benoît Vasseur.
Malgré les difficultés, MSF maintient ses opérations dans d’autres zones sensibles de la capitale, notamment à Tabarre, Cité Soleil, Pran Menm, ainsi qu’avec des cliniques mobiles. Entre septembre 2024 et février 2025, l’organisation a réalisé plus de 72 000 consultations, dont près de 5 000 liées à des violences sexuelles ou basées sur le genre.
Diana Manilla Arroyo a également souligné l’impact dramatique de la crise sur les femmes. « Elles sont nombreuses à être victimes de violences physiques et sexuelles. Elles paient le prix fort », a-t-elle déclaré.
Autre source d’inquiétude, c’est la hausse des maladies hydriques. À l’hôpital Drouillard, situé à Cité Soleil, 117 cas ont été traités en janvier, puis 177 en février. 50 patients, dans un état grave, ont été transférés vers le centre spécialisé de Fontaine.
Malgré le chaos, MSF affirme rester engagée aux côtés des Haïtiens. Avec plus de 3 000 employés locaux, l’organisation continue de soigner gratuitement à Delmas, Tabarre et dans d’autres zones accessibles. En dix jours seulement, 314 victimes de violences armées ont été prises en charge, dont 90 gravement blessées.
Alors que le système de santé s’effondre, MSF reste l’un des derniers piliers de l’aide médicale dans un pays en proie à une crise humanitaire et sécuritaire majeure.
