Le Caribbean Port Services (CPS), principal port desservant la capitale haïtienne, a été contraint de suspendre toutes ses activités ce vendredi 10 janvier 2025, en raison des menaces proférées par le chef de gang du Wharf Jérémie, Mikanò. Cette information a été rapportée par VOA Kreyòl.
Cette fermeture intervient à peine deux mois après la reprise des activités du port en novembre 2024, après une période inopérationnelle.
En effet, avant cette reprise, le CPS avait déjà cessé de fonctionner pendant un mois, suite à l’enlèvement de deux membres d’équipage d’un navire et à une attaque armée contre les installations portuaires.
Mikanò, un puissant chef de gang faisant partie de la coalition Viv Ansanm et tristement célèbre pour ses exactions, avait déjà défrayé la chronique en décembre 2024, par le massacre d’environ 200 personnes, sous prétexte de venger son enfant. Cet acte a horrifié et marqué l’opinion publique.
Cette nouvelle fermeture illustre clairement l’influence grandissante des gangs armés en Haïti, lesquels cherchent à tout contrôler dans leur environnement. Leur emprise sur le pays pose un défi majeur à la stabilité économique et à la sécurité nationale.
