Le ministre de la justice angolais, Francisco Queiroz, a annoncé jeudi que l’Angola a récupéré des actifs d’une valeur de plus de 11 milliards de dollars qui avaient été pillés des coffres de l’État et cachés à l’étranger.
Pour parvenir à cette fin, les autorités du pays ont lancé 715 poursuites pénales pour corruption, fraude, détournement de fonds et autres délits financiers, a déclaré M. Queiroz, au «Quotidien gouvernemental Jornal» de l’Angola.
Se référant aux précisions du ministre: «Des actifs ont été récupérés en Grande-Bretagne, en Suisse, à Singapour et aux Bermudes. «Le montant total saisi et récupéré, dans le pays et à l’étranger, s’élève à $11 486 042 997,22», a-t-il souligné.
L’ancien dirigeant du pays, M. José Eduardo Dos Santos, 79 ans, est accusé avoir détourné les ressources nationales en favorisant sa famille et ses proches à accéder à des postes clés pendant ses 38 ans à la tête de l’État angolais. D’un autre côté, sa fille, Isabel Dos Santos, fait l’objet d’une enquête dans cette affaire pour détournement présumé de fonds publics.
C’est après son arrivée au pouvoir en 2017 que l’actuel président du pays, João Lourenço, a lancé une vaste campagne de lutte contre la corruption pour récupérer des milliards de dollars soupçonnés d’avoir été détournés sous la longue présidence de son prédécesseur José E. Dos Santos.
