Les législateurs américains ont refusé de débloquer les 40 millions de dollars permettant de financer le déploiement de la force multinationale. Un décaissement essentiel pour aider Haïti à éradiquer la montée en puissance des gangs armés, ainsi que la vague de l’insécurité qui atteint son point culminant.
En effet, les représentants Michael McCaul, président Républicain de la commission des Affaires étrangères de la chambre des représentants et le président Républicain chargé des relations étrangères au Sénat ont fait suspendre temporairement les 40 millions de dollars que le département d’État américain avait demandé à l’administration pour gérer les détails du déploiement. C’est ce qu’on peut lire dans les colonnes du journal Reuters.
Cepandant, des collaborateurs du Congrès ont affirmé que cet argent, bloqué par les Républicains, pourrait compromettre le déploiement de la force de police Kényane en Haïti. Ils ont mis en évidence les fonctions de cette somme (40 millions) qui devraient couvrir les coûts essentiels de la mission.
Enfin, malgré le refus de décaissement, le département d’État discute toujours avec le congrès en vue de leur approbation aux fonds demandés. Un haut responsable du département d’État, a martelé : « Nous pensons que c’est critique pour le déploiement » il a fait cette déclaration sous couvert de l’anonymat.
Entre-temps, des affamés du pouvoir qui ont passé plus de 30 mois, aux côtés du Roi Henry (actuellement à l’extérieur du pays) ont dépensé les maigres ressources de l’État dans des hôtels luxueux en Haiti tant qu’à l’étranger, se battant encore une fois pour avoir le contrôle du Conseil Présidentiel. Des actions qui montrent à clair que ces “assoiffés du pouvoir” feront tout pour rester à la tête du pays. Malgré qu’ils aient conduit Ariel Henry là où nous sommes aujourd’hui, ils veulent toujours leur part du nouveau gâteau qui sera distribué par la Communauté des Caraïbes. Des territoires perdus, des maisons incendiées, plusieurs familles ont déguerpi leurs maisons et sont dans les rues, ils ( les membres de l’accord du 21 décembre) ne cherchent que des miettes pour ne pas crever de faim.
