Après avoir été enlevé le 8 janvier 2022, puis libéré contre rançon 5 jours plus tard ard; soit le 13 janvier de la même année, un des deux agents de sécurité de l’ancien sénateur Joseph Lambert, est obligé de fuir le pays suite à de multiples menaces de tout genre.
À la suite de ces menaces, Jean Baptiste Wibens, un policier détaché à la sécurité de l’ancien président du Sénat de la République, Joseph Lambert, se voit forcé de quitter le pays. Il dit avoir pris cette décision après que plusieurs individus non identifiés lui ont proféré des menaces de mort ainsi que sa famille.
«Des menaces de mort se faisaient au jour le jour, et les membres de ma famille n’étaient pas épargnés. C’est la raison pour laquelle j’ai pris la décision de quitter le pays après avoir reçu des appels anonymes pour m’intimider». C’est ce qu’a confié cet agent attaché à la sécurité rapprochée de l’ancien élu du Sud-Est dans un entretien téléphonique accordée à la rédaction de Clin d’œil Info (CDI).
« Après avoir été kidnappé, puis libéré suite au versement d’une rançon de plus de 500 milles gourdes, nous sommes aux abois, sans rien. Connaissant la situation économique des policiers, psychologiquement c’était dur pour moi. Malgré tout, les ravisseurs ont continué à nous appeler disant qu’ils nous tueront la prochaine fois. J’ai été victime d’une attaque après cette malheureuse mésaventure.

Devant ces menaces répétées, Jean Baptiste Wibens s’était vu contraint de se rendre dans sa ville natale, laissant sa famille, pour se réfugier pendant un certain temps. Il fuit le pays quoique sa famille y est toujours.
En guise de rappel, des individus armés non identifiés ont enlevé deux policiers affectés à la sécurité du président du Sénat, Joseph Lambert parmi eux Jean Baptiste Wibens, ainsi que son chauffeur, le samedi 8 janvier 2022 à la première ruelle Rivière à Port-au-Prince. Le rapt a eu lieu vers 7 heures de l’après-midi, non loin de l’université de Port-au-Prince. Les victimes étaient à bord d’un Jeep Toyota Land cruiser. Ils ont versé plus d’un million de gourdes en échange de leur libération.
