Éditorial : Au milieu du tumulte, Haïti retrouve un fragment d’elle-même
Au milieu des sirènes, des détonations lointaines et des nuits sans lumière, Haïti a trouvé, ce 18 novembre 2025, une respiration tant attendue. Une parenthèse lumineuse dans un quotidien marqué par la peur, les déplacés, les quartiers coupés du reste du pays et une population prise au piège d’une crise sans fin. La qualification des Grenadiers pour la Coupe du Monde 2026 n’est pas seulement un succès sportif, c’est un acte de résistance nationale.
Car cet exploit, arraché à plus de 2 000 kilomètres du pays, dans un stade étranger, dit quelque chose de puissant sur la capacité d’Haïti à se tenir debout malgré le chaos. Alors que l’insécurité empêche la tenue de rencontres sur le sol national, que des familles entières fuient leurs maisons et que les institutions peinent à regagner la confiance publique, une équipe a réussi ce que beaucoup pensaient impossible, unir des millions de personnes en l’espace d’une nuit.
On pourrait ne voir dans cette qualification qu’un résultat sportif. Ce serait passer à côté de son sens profond. Ce que les Grenadiers ont offert, c’est un rappel que l’espoir n’a pas disparu, même si la réalité cherche sans cesse à l’étouffer. En marquant deux buts contre le Nicaragua, en dominant un groupe où figuraient le Honduras et le Costa Rica, les joueurs haïtiens ont remporté bien plus qu’un billet pour le Mondial, ils ont rouvert une brèche dans ce mur d’incertitude qui enferme le pays.
Il faut mesurer la portée de cette performance. Chaque entraînement a été un voyage; chaque rassemblement, une traversée et chaque match, un exil forcé. Et pourtant, cette équipe n’a jamais cessé de porter sur ses épaules un pays qui doute de ses lendemains. Leur parcours rappelle qu’Haïti n’est pas seulement une terre de tragédies relayées dans les dépêches, c’est une nation de courage, de talent, de dignité et d’entêtement à ne pas sombrer.
La liesse populaire, qui a envahi Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Gonaïves, Les Cayes ou Jérémie, n’était pas superficielle. Elle était essentielle. Dans les rues plongées dans l’obscurité, des milliers de personnes ont chanté, crié, pleuré. Cette célébration n’avait rien de naïf, elle disait au monde que, malgré les balles perdues, les coupures d’électricité et les routes bloquées, Haïti sait encore rêver, et cela a une valeur inestimable.
Les Grenadiers ne régleront ni la crise sécuritaire, ni la misère, ni la fragilité politique. Mais ils ont offert quelque chose que ni un gouvernement, ni une mission internationale, ni une conférence diplomatique n’a réussi à donner ces dernières années, une étincelle de cohésion nationale. Une preuve que le pays peut avancer, même à contre-courant.
Et parfois, dans les moments les plus sombres, il suffit d’un fragment pour tout recommencer et redire encore une fois Grenadye Alaso !
