Dans la foulée des tensions à la frontière ukrainnienne, le président ukrainien met le cap vers la professionnalisation de l’armée ukrainienne.
Sur fond de crainte d’invasion russe, l’Ukraine prévoit de mettre en place un plan de professionnalisation de son armée visant à recruter en trois ans 100.000 militaires, a annoncé mardi le président Volodymyr Zelensky.
Le président a signé, devant le parlement, un décret prévoyant une augmentation sur trois ans des effectifs de l’armée de 100.000 personnes, en plus de près de 250.000 militaires actuels, avec la création de 20 nouvelles brigades.
« Ce décret n’existe pas parce que la guerre approche. Il vise à ce qu’il y ait bientôt la paix » , a-t-il déclaré.
Ce décret prévoit aussi des augmentations des salaires et de meilleurs avantages pour les soldats, leurs proches et les anciens combattants.
Entre-temps, les pays occidentaux accusent la Fédération de Russie d’avoir déployé plus de 100.000 soldats à la frontière ukrainienne en vue d’une possible invasion. Moscou dément toute velléité belliqueuse, mais conditionne le retrait de ses troupes à des garanties pour la sécurité de son territoire, notamment « l’assurance que l’Ukraine ne sera jamais membre de l’Otan et que l’Alliance retirera ses forces sur ses positions de 1997 ».
