Lors d’une rencontre, lundi 14 février 2022, avec la presse, l’ex-DG du SMGRS émet sa préoccupation sur la détérioration de la situation sécuritaire dans le pays, plus précisément dans l’aire métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince et encourage les autorités et les notables à œuvrer en vue de dialoguer avec les hommes armés afin qu’ils puissent déposer leurs armes.
Initiative dont Mme Habitant compte elle-même donner le ton, elle a annoncé d’éventuelles rencontres avec certains notables en vue de sensibiliser les gangs sur l’urgente nécessité de déposer leurs armes.
«Nous prévoyons de rencontrer avec des notables de Carrefour, Martissant et Fontamara afin qu’ensemble nous puissions dialoguer avec les hommes armés, dans les zones de Grand Ravine, Tibwa et Village de Dieu, pour les encourager à s’unir, à ne pas se battre pour des territoires dans un pays qui nous appartient tous, car nous avons besoin de sécurité. À ce stade où nous sommes arrivés, il faut placer le pays avant tout», a déclaré Mme Habitant.
L’ex-directrice du SMGRS qui croit qu’aucun sacrifice n’est trop grand pour résoudre le problème de la prolifération illégale d’armes à feu dans le pays, au cours de cette conférence de presse, a questionné la provenance des armes et des munitions que les individus armés utilisent pour semer la terreur dans un pays sous ambargo en matière d’importation d’armes à feu, et d’ailleurs, qui ne les produit pas non plus.
Mme Habitant tire sans ambages la sonnette d’alarme sur l’impact croissant de la prolifération des bandes armées sur la population, et elle encourage les autorités à assumer leur responsabilité pour qu’ils puissent mettre fin à l’insécurité dans le pays au cours de cette année 2022, car c’est une obligation pour la stabilité en Haïti.
