Dans une note de presse datant le 18 août 2022, la Digicel a informé la population, plus précisément les gens du département de l’Artibonite, que l’une de ses importantes fibres optiques a été coupée, et la compagnie se trouve en difficulté pour la réparer à cause des affrontements fréquents entre les gangs armés à Savien.
En effet, cette fibre optique est en panne depuis le mercredi 17 août, ce qui coupe l’accès à internet dans plusieurs communes du plus grand département du pays (en terme de superficie); telles que : Liancourt, Verrettes, La Chapelle et des zones avoisinantes.
Compte tenu des affrontements entre les gangs armés, la Digicel se plaint du fait que ses techniciens ne peuvent pas se rendre à l’endroit où la fibre a été coupée sur la route de Savien.
Par ailleurs, la compagnie s’excuse auprès de sa clientèle et assure qu’elle fera tout son possible afin de remédier à la situation dans un plus bref délai.
