Depuis jeudi, la situation est très tendue dans plusieurs communes de la capitale dont Delmas, Pétion-Ville et le Centre-ville de Port-au-Prince. À la base de cette situation de tension, des motards qui protestent contre la rareté récurrente des produits pétroliers sur le marché formel. Ils patrouillent plusieurs rues de la capitale pour dénoncer les marchands ambulants qui, disent-ils, font de la vente aux enchères avec le précieux liquide.
La population semble, cette fois-ci, à bout de souffle face à la pénurie de carburant qui dure depuis plus de trois(3) mois dans le pays. Les chauffeurs de taxi ont déclenché les hostilités depuis jeudi. Vendredi 19 août, le constat reste le même, les chauffeurs de taxi-moto s’en sont pris aux revendeurs qu’ils accusent d’être l’auteur du marché noir dans le pays. Ils estiment que c’est inacceptable que le carburant soit disponible en grande quantité sur le marché informel, alors que la majorité des stations-service de la région métropolitaine ont baissé leurs rideaux, et lorsqu’elles font de la distribution c’est un véritable calvaire pour eux de s’en approvisionner.
Dans la foulée, des échanges de jet de pierre ont eu lieu entre les revendeurs et ces motocyclistes. Ces chauffeurs ont lancé une opération d’inspection des récipients s’apparentant à du carburant, du même coup ils les ont saisis et les utilisent pour leur moto. Selon eux, ce mouvement est une tentative de freiner le commerce illégal de carburant.
Toutefois, on a constaté que les pompes distribuant de l’essence sont bondées de personnes qui veulent faire le plein. Ce qui ne paraît pas chose facile, mais les revendeurs se font de plus en plus rare dans les rues. Les protestataires ont fait savoir que ce mouvement n’est qu’un signal lancé au gouvernement. Ils promettent de passer à une autre étape si leurs revendications ne sont pas satisfaites. Pour cela, ils exigent à ce que les autorités font le nécessaire afin d’en assurer la disponibilité des produits pétroliers pour la population.
Le carburant se vend à un prix élevé sur le marché informel, il vous faut entre 600 à 1500 gourdes, dépendamment de la zone, pour un gallon. Tout cela sous les yeux impuissants du gouvernement d’Ariel Henry qui peine à y trouver une solution définitive à la crise. A rappeler que depuis près de deux ans le pays fait face à une rareté de carburant. Mais, c’est pour la première fois que la pénurie perdure à ce point; soit depuis le mois de juin.
