Alors que la Fête de l’Agriculture et du Travail semble perdre de sa place dans le calendrier national, le Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT) a tenu à marquer symboliquement cette journée du jeudi 1er mai 2025 lors d’une cérémonie organisée à la Villa d’Accueil. Plusieurs hauts responsables de l’État, dont le Premier ministre Alix Didier FILS-AIMÉ, le chef des Forces armées, le général Derby GUERRIER, et le directeur général de la PNH, Rameau NORMIL, ont pris part à l’événement.
Dans son discours, le président du CPT, Fritz Alphonse JEAN, a salué la résilience des agriculteurs et des travailleurs haïtiens. Il a promis un accompagnement renforcé de l’État pour relancer l’agriculture, favoriser la création d’emplois et restaurer la confiance des investisseurs.
Le ministre de l’Agriculture, Vernet JOSEPH, a quant à lui insisté sur l’importance de la solidarité envers les producteurs. Il a exprimé sa gratitude envers les partenaires techniques et financiers, et s’est engagé à moderniser le secteur afin d’en améliorer la performance.
De son côté, le ministre des Affaires sociales, Georges Wilbert FRANCK, a annoncé la création prochaine de l’Office national d’assurance contre le chômage, un mécanisme censé offrir une protection aux travailleurs en situation de précarité. Il a également annoncé l’ouverture prochaine de trois magasins artisanaux dans le Sud, le Sud-Est et le Nord.
Autrefois célébrée à travers des foires, des expositions et la valorisation des produits locaux, la Fête du 1er mai semble aujourd’hui en perte de vitalité. Le CPT affirme toutefois vouloir lui redonner du souffle en misant sur des projets de développement dans les régions encore relativement stables.
