Plusieurs quartiers de la zone métropolitaine, dont Cité Soleil; Tabarre; Croix-des-Bouquets; Torcel, entre autres, sont sous l’emprise des gangs armés depuis des lustres. Les groupes armés s’affrontent et tentent de mettre en déroute la police qui essaie de faire de son mieux pour rétablir la sécurité dans ces zones.
À Cité Soleil, un ouragan de violence plane sur le plus grand bidonville du pays. La guerre mettant aux prises les membres des deux groupes armés, en l’occurrence G-9; la bande à Barbecue et G-PEP dirigé par le dénommé « Ti Gabriel», a déjà emporté plus d’une cinquantaine de personnes. Parmi ces victimes figurent des membres de la population civile, et plus d’une centaine de blessés ont été recensés, selon un bilan communiqué par l’agent exécutif intérimaire de la dite commune, Joël Janéus.
Au-delà de la violence qui occupe une place centrale à Cité Soleil, la situation est chaotique. L’organisation médicale Médecins Sans Frontières tire la sonnette d’alarme et demande aux groupes armés concernés par ce conflit d’observer un cessez-le-feu immédiat pour permettre à la population civile de Cité Soleil, principalement ceux du quartier de Brooklyn, de recevoir des aides humanitaires. Car, selon MSF, plusieurs milliers de personnes vivant dans ce quartier sont isolées, elles n’ont pas accès à l’eau potable, ni de nourriture et de soins médicaux. L’organisation internationale demande à des organisations humanitaires de venir en aide aux habitants de ce bidonville. MSF a dressé un bilan sombre des conséquences des affrontements entre les gangs armés rivaux. Le personnel de santé de MSF a déjà opéré plus d’une quinzaine de victimes par jour du 8 juillet à date.
En plus de la dégradation sécuritaire dans le plus grand bidonville d’Haïti, les cas de kidnapping augmentent au quotidien dans la capitale. Le dernier cas remonte à dimanche dernier où des adolescents lourdement armés ont enlevé quatre(4) personnes. Outre Cité Soleil, Martissant reste toujours une véritable casse-tête pour les habitants du grand Sud. À cela, s’ajoute Torcel, Pernier, Tabarre, Croix-des-Bouquets, Canaan, entre autres, qui figurent sur la liste des zones rouges. À longueur de journée, des crépitements d’arme sont entendus par-ci, par-là sans compter les risques de rapts qui s’élèvent à plus de 99.9%. Face à cette situation de désarroi la population ne sait à quel saint se vouer.
A côté de toutes ces problématiques qui entourent le quotidien de l’haïtien, le Premier Ministre Ariel Henry et son gouvernement se montrent plus cyniques que jamais. Alors que plusieurs milliers d’habitants de la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince dansent au rythme des cartouches des caïds, le chef du gouvernement se contente d’aller pleurnicher sur le cadavre de l’ancien premier ministre Japonais Shinzo Abe. Cependant, plus d’une cinquantaine d’haïtiens baignent dans leur sang, et le neurochirurgien reste muet. Ce qui implique qu’Ariel en rit de nos malheurs.
