L’année académique 2023-2024 arrive à terme malgré les incertitudes. Une année scolaire qui a été marquée par la crise socio-politique ainsi que la violence des gangs armés. Les acteurs du système éducatif estiment que c’est une année scolaire réussie mais en terme d’apprentissage le doute plane.
La radiographie d’une année académique cauchemardesque
En raison des violences de gangs armés, qui se sont intensifiées depuis le jeudi 29 février 2024 dans la zone métropolitaine de la capitale, Port-au-Prince, les établissements scolaires ont été contraints de fermer leurs portes. Pour fuir la violence, des milliers de familles ont trouvé refuge dans des bâtiments publics, notamment des écoles. 35 sites de personnes déplacées sur les 85 recensés à Port-au-Prince sont des écoles, en particulier les lycées et les écoles nationales se trouvant au cœur de la capitale.
500,000 enfants ont perdu l’accès à l’éducation en raison de la violence liée aux gangs. Près de 1,700 écoles sont actuellement fermées dans la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince, selon le Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF).
Sur l’ensemble de la zone métropolitaine de Port-au-Prince, 772 écoles sont fermées à Croix-des-Bouquets, 446 écoles à Tabarre, 274 à Cité Soleil, et 200 autres à Martissant, Fontamara, Centre-Ville et Bas-Delmas, selon le Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de la Formation Professionnelle.
Les écoles ont fait l’objet d’une trentaine d’attaques. Elles sont caractérisées entre autres, par le pillage des biens scolaires, des incendies ainsi que des enlèvements d’enseignants et d’élèves. De nombreuses écoles de la capitale restent vides en raison de la violence des gangs, fermées ou inaccessibles jusqu’à date.
Les élèves, les premières victimes
Les acteurs éducatifs se sont exprimés suite à la fermeture de cette année scolaire. Ils estiment que c’était une année extrêmement difficile mais le fait d’arriver au terme c’est un point positif vue l’incertitude.

D’un autre côté, ce professeur qui réclame l’anonymat a précisé que l’année académique est une grande réussite malgré tout. Il exprime sa satisfaction car il a pu aboutir avec le programme scolaire malgré les circonstances.
L’avis des élèves ne sont pas trop différents des responsables surtout ceux qui vont aux examens officiels. Les écoliers ont été vraiment affectés par les derniers événements car ils ont été victimes d’actes de violence traumatisants.
» Je ne suis pas concentré, j’ai tellement raté les heures de cours. Je suis on ne peut plus perdu, je m’interroge déjà sur la réussite des élèves qui auront à subir les examens officiels », a déclaré un élève de la classe terminale (Nouveau Secondaire 4 NS4).
Le MENFP au secours des candidats aux examens officiels
Étant conscient de l’ampleur de l’insécurité sur l’éducation, le Ministère de l’Education Nationale et de la Formation Professionnelle (MENFP), a mis sur pied un programme de rattrapage pouvant permettre aux élèves des classes officielles (9e AF et NS4), de rattraper les heures perdues. Réalisant des cours de rattrapage surtout dans les matières clés pour ces élèves.
Le MENFP a aussi annulé les quatre nouvelles matières qui ont été ajoutées dans le cursus pour les élèves de la neuvième année fondamentale. Ces disciplines sont l’Éducation esthétique et artistique (EEA), l’Éducation physique et sportive (EPS), l’Éducation technologique et aux activités productives (ETAP) et l’Éducation à la citoyenneté (EC).
L’école devrait être l’endroit idéal pour les écoliers cherchant à acquérir des connaissances afin de participer au développement durable du pays. Cependant, cette institution est très négligée en Haïti. Il semblerait que cela ne fasse pas partie des priorités des autorités de ce pays.
