Entre l’espoir de voir Kamala HARRIS à la Maison Blanche et la crainte d’une réélection de Donald TRUMP. Malgré l’ingérence américaine a déstabilisé les structures économiques et politiques d’Haïti, les Haïtiens ne cessent de les voir comme le sauveur. Il serait plus courageux ou honnête d’admettre sans détour que quel que soit le président élu, il va défendre avant tout les intérêts des États-Unis et non ceux d’Haïti et ceci peu importe le soutien que nous pouvons espérer.
À l’instar de la violence des gangs armés qui reste une préoccupation pour les Haïtiens, les élections présidentielles américaines, prévues pour le 5 novembre 2024; sont aussi l’une des priorités de l’heure. Entre la candidate du parti Démocrate, Kamala HARRIS, et son rival Républicain, Donald TRUMP, la victoire de la colistière du président Joe BIDEN serait préférable de l’avis de plus d’un. Mais en quoi se serait bénéfique pour nous ?
De la capitale haïtienne, Port-au-Prince arriver à Miami, des citoyens haitiens livrent leurs réflexions, leurs inquiétudes et leurs attentes de cette élection. Le sort de plus d’un million de compatriotes seront joués aux élections américaines sur le plan migratoire, mais qu’en est-il sur le plan politique et économique. Les compatriotes, ayant la chance de laisser le pays par le biais du programme Humanitaire initié par le 46e président américain, souhaitent inévitablement voir la victoire de la Vice-présidente américaine car sa défaite sera aussi celle de plusieurs millions d’Haïtiens.
Cet amour se justifie tout simplement par la politique migratoire jugée clémente, de Kamala HARRIS et celle de Donald TRUMP perçue comme un danger pour les immigrants haïtiens. Des millions d’Haïtiens croisent leurs petits doigts et vont suivre de loin ou de près le déroulement du scrutin. La politique américaine ne change pas pour autant dans la façon de voir Haïti car tout par et pour les américains qui ne veulent qu’augmenter leur puissance mais méprisent nos déclins.
Aux États-Unis, la communauté haïtienne se retrouve dans le viseur des accusations racistes de Donald TRUMP avec surtout ces propos xénophobes et mensongers qui avaient déjà secoué la communauté haïtienne de Springfield, dans l’Ohio en septembre dernier. L’éventualité du retour de Donald Trump à la Maison Blanche ravive les craintes liées aux politiques anti-immigration et aux discours polarisants, menaçant leur sécurité et l’avenir des milliards d’immigrants. Mais, si Kamala HARRIS gagne est-ce qu’on peut espérer de vivre hors de la violence ou la terreur des gangs ?
Qu’ils soient démocrates ou républicains, celui où celle qui sera élu (e) à la Magistrature suprême des États-Unis se préoccupe de la situation d’Haïti. La priorité absolue sera accordée aux américains et ses États. Toutefois, même nos dirigeants ou leur avenir politique dépendent de la politique américaine, car ils sont la marionnette et des serviteurs de l’Oncle Sam.
Les joutes électorales américaines arrivent dans un contexte marqué par la révélation choquante de Denis Hankins, l’ambassadeur américain en Haïti qui a ouvertement admis, lors d’un entretien diffusé sur Télé Métropole dans l’émission Le Point, avoir échangé avec des chefs de gangs. Cette confession a été perçue par certains comme un aveu de l’implication du gouvernement américain dans la violence armée surtout des rapports montrent que les armes et munitions utilisées par les groupes criminels sont issues des États-Unis qui ont mis des embargos sur Haïti en matière d’armes.
Au cœur de la crise haïtienne se trouve une longue histoire d’inégalités socio-économiques, d’instabilité politique et d’ingérence étrangère. À souligner le rôle que le gouvernement américain a joué dans la création de la situation actuelle. L’histoire des interventions étrangères improductives et oppressives est longue. En 2024, peut-on espérer une meilleure approche des Américains dans la façon de contrebalancer l’avenir politique d’Haïti ?
