Participant au neuvième Sommet des Amériques, le Premier Ministre Ariel Henry s’est entretenu, mercredi 8 juin 2022, avec le président de la Banque Interaméricaine de Développement (BID), Mauricio Claver-Carone.
La baisse du PIB ainsi que celle du niveau de vie de la population, l’augmentation de l’inflation et de l’insécurité étaient au centre de ces discussions. Quelques heures avant, le chef du gouvernement ainsi que le ministre des Affaires étrangères, Jean Victor Généus, avaient eu une rencontre avec le secrétaire général de l’organisation des États Américains(OEA), Luis Almagro. Cette fois, la question de la sécurité était largement discutée, ainsi que la tenue des élections.
Par ailleurs, M. Luis Almagro a promis au gouvernement de sensibiliser les partenaires de la région et d’accompagner le gouvernement dans ses efforts visant à rétablir la sécurité dans le pays. Le président de la BID, quant à lui, croit qu’il pourrait fournir une assistance à la PNH et au Ministère de la Justice en vue d’éradiquer le phénomène de l’insécurité.
En outre, La BID travaille à la finalisation d’un programme pour un montant d’environ 1.3 milliard de dollars, rapporte le locataire de la Primature. Elle collabore aussi avec des partenaires du secteur privé pour promouvoir des opportunités d’investissement en Haïti, particulièrement dans les secteurs de l’agriculture et du textile, annonce la Primature dans une note publiée sur son compte Twitter.
Le Premier Ministre Ariel Henry est en voyage actuellement à Los Angeles, aux États-Unis, en marge de sa participation au neuvième Sommet des Amériques débuté le 7 juin dernier. En moins de deux jours, Dr Ariel Henry a eu des échanges avec deux acteurs clés de l’international qui, selon lui, étaient très fructueuses. Il ne reste qu’à suivre quelles seront les retombées de ces discussions du point de vue sociopolitique et économique pour le pays.
