Dans le cadre de l’amélioration des infrastructures stratégiques et de la relance de l’économie régionale, Fritz Alphonse JEAN, Coordonnateur du Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), a effectué une visite dans les départements du Nord et du Nord-Est du 16 au 18 mars 2025. Durant son séjour, plusieurs rencontres ont eu lieu entre des hommes d’affaires de la diaspora et les membres de la Chambre de Commerce du Nord.
L’objectif principal de ces rencontres était de discuter du réaménagement de l’aéroport international du Cap-Haïtien, un élément clé du développement économique de la région. Afin de sécuriser le financement nécessaire à ce projet, des experts en construction et en gestion des infrastructures aéroportuaires, basés aux États-Unis, ont pris part aux échanges.
Parmi les sujets abordés, la possibilité de créer une zone franche à Chinette a été mise en avant. Cette initiative, portée par un groupe d’entrepreneurs locaux et de la diaspora, vise à encourager l’industrialisation de la région et à générer de nouveaux emplois.
Le Président du CPT a également visité le Parc Industriel de Caracol (PIC), un pôle économique majeur du Nord-Est. Le Parc, qui employait autrefois 12 500 personnes, ne compte aujourd’hui plus que 3 500 travailleurs en raison des difficultés rencontrées par les entreprises locales. Face à cette situation, le Conseil Présidentiel de Transition envisage des solutions concrètes pour relancer cette zone industrielle stratégique.
La construction de deux nouvelles centrales solaires, d’une capacité totale de 12 mégawatts, a également été évoquée. Ces installations viendront renforcer l’approvisionnement énergétique des usines et des communautés environnantes.
L’ancien Gouverneur de la Banque Centrale a également pris le temps de rencontrer des leaders communautaires, ce qui a permis d’évaluer la situation de l’éducation dans la région, notamment le manque d’enseignants dans les écoles, un défi majeur pour l’accès à une éducation de qualité.
À travers ces échanges, Monsieur JEAN a vu une occasion de renforcer les liens avec les acteurs économiques du Nord et du Nord-Est. En misant sur des infrastructures modernes et un environnement sécurisé, l’espoir est grand que ces rencontres encourageront davantage d’investissements nationaux et internationaux, afin de relancer durablement l’économie de la région.
