Pétion-Ville: la galère des conducteurs de Delmas et de Route de Frères
La commune de Pétion-Ville, l’un des centres économiques et commerciaux accueillant de grandes entreprises à cause de la conjoncture d’insécurité dans plusieurs autres communes du pays ces dernières années, est tristement célèbre pour ses embouteillages. James, chauffeur de camionnette à Delmas, qui fait le trajet Pétion-Ville – Delmas depuis plusieurs années, ne cache pas sa colère: « Je fais des trajets entre Delmas et Pétion-Ville tous les jours, et c’est devenu un cauchemar. Avant même d’arriver à Pétion-Ville, on est déjà coincés dans des embouteillages à n’en plus finir, » fulmine-t-il.
« Et une fois à Pétion-Ville, c’est pire ! Les rues sont si étroites, il y a trop de voitures… Il me faut parfois plus de deux heures pour un trajet qui, normalement, devrait durer 30 minutes. C’est une vraie catastrophe. Ça ruine mes revenus parce que je fais moins de courses ! »
Julio, chauffeur sur la route de Frères, laisse exploser sa rage : _ »Je commence ma journée sur la route de Frères, et dès que je pense à Pétion-Ville, je sens la tension monter. À chaque fois que je dois passer par là, c’est un désastre, » tonne-t-il.
« Dès qu’on entre, c’est comme si on entrait dans un bourbier. Des heures de blocage ! On essaie parfois de contourner par des petites rues, mais même celles-là sont engorgées. On perd du temps, de l’argent, et on use nos véhicules à force d’être bloqués comme des sardines dans une boîte. Pétion-Ville, c’est un véritable cauchemar pour nous ! »
Michel, chauffeur de tap-tap venu de la zone métropolitaine, affiche une mine défaite, résigné à son sort : Tous les jours, c’est la même galère. Dès qu’on approche de Pétion-Ville, c’est fini, on sait qu’on va rester là pendant des heures, » soupire-t-il, visiblement usé.
« Les passagers commencent à râler, ils sont eux aussi en retard. Mais on peut faire quoi ? On est tous pris au piège : motos, voitures, camions, tout le monde. C’est un calvaire sans fin. »_
Patrick, automobiliste privé venant de Frères et travaillant à Pétion-Ville, est désabusé : « Franchement, c’est devenu invivable, » confie-t-il avec une lassitude palpable. »
Tous les matins, c’est la même histoire : embouteillages monstres, voitures collées les unes aux autres, rien ne bouge. On perd un temps fou ! J’ai même pensé à démissionner et à trouver un boulot à distance, tellement cette situation devient insupportable. Pétion-Ville, c’est un enfer pour les conducteurs. »_
Marc, motocycliste, partage son désespoir : _ »Même en moto, je suis bloqué à Pétion-Ville ! C’est à n’y rien comprendre, » lâche-t-il, furieux.
« Quand j’arrive à la route de Frères, je me dis que je vais m’en sortir en me faufilant, mais même ça devient impossible. C’est tellement saturé qu’on ne peut même plus passer entre les voitures. Franchement, la moto, qui est censée être rapide, devient aussi inutile qu’une voiture dans ces conditions ! »
La situation à Pétion-Ville est devenue insoutenable. Entre des embouteillages interminables, une absence totale de régulation du trafic et des rues qui se rétrécissent sous le poids des véhicules, les chauffeurs venant de Delmas et de la route de Frères vivent un véritable cauchemar. Pour beaucoup, la question n’est plus de savoir s’ils tiendront encore, mais combien de temps avant que tout cela ne mène à un effondrement complet de leur activité.
