Nécrologie: La Cour de Cassation, théâtre des dignes hommages au président Boniface Alexandre
Les funérailles officielles de l’ancien Président, Boniface ALEXANDRE, ont été chantées, ce lundi 14 août 2023, à la Cour de Cassation. Plusieurs personnalités, venant de divers sphères, dont celles de la classe politique et du système judiciaire, ont rendu un dernier hommage à l’ex-Président.
Les funérailles de l’ancien président provisoire de la République d’Haïti , Boniface ALEXANDRE, décédé, le 4 août 2023, à l’âge de 87 ans, ont eu lieu à la Cour de Cassation. Des personnalités, dont le Chef du Gouvernement, des membres du cabinet ministériel, de la cour de Cassation, du Haut Conseil de la Transition (HCT) et des hauts fonctionnaires de l’Etat etc ont fait le déplacement pour rendre un dernier hommage à l’illustre fils de Ganthier.
Par devant le siège principal des juges de la Cour de Cassation de la République, le cercueil de son ancien président, exposé dans l’amphithéâtre, était drapé du bicolore national. Son portrait était exposé sur une esplanade, et sa dépouille entourée de gerbes de fleurs à une salle de ladite cour. La cérémonie funéraire était remplie de discours élogieux à l’égard de l’ancien chef d’Etat.
Dans son homélie en la circonstance, Mgr. Pierre André DUMAS, l’évêque d’Anse-à-Veau/Miragoâne, a présenté le défunt président comme un modèle qui devrait être inscrit dans le patrimoine juridique du pays arguant qu’il était un homme respectueux de la constitution et qui a toujours agi avec sens de responsabilité et a contribué à la formation de plusieurs générations de juristes. Le célébrant principal a salué l’intégrité, l’honnêteté, la compétence et l’attachement du président provisoire de 2004 à 2006, aux valeurs et institutions républicaines.
Dans son discours, le locataire de la primature ne manque pas d’éloges à l’égard du Président Boniface ALEXANDRE qui, selon lui, était un des chefs d’État le plus responsable et intègre qui était au-dessus de la mêlée. Il croit que tous ceux qui veulent se lancer dans la politique devrait s’inspirer de l’ancien président de la Cour de Casation.
« C’est un président qui privilégiait les intérêts collectifs au détriment des siens et ceux de sa famille. Il préconisait, tout le temps, un consensus national autour des défis auxquels le pays faisait face. ll est un modèle de rectitude, d’humilité et d’empathie, qui a œuvré pour bâtir un consensus national autour des défis majeurs auxquels nous faisons face en tant que nation », a lâché le neurochirurgien Ariel HENRY.

Pour sa part, le président de la Cour de Cassation, le juge Jean Joseph LEBRUN estime qu’avec le départ de Me Alexandre, le pays a perdu un magistrat intègre qui savait aussi prendre soin, avec amour, sa famille. Il a été propulsé à la tête de la Cour de Cassation pour, enfin, à la faveur d’un heureux concours de circonstance, devenir Président de la République pendant une période de deux ans, rapporte Jean Joseph LEBRUN. La disparition brutale de l’ancien chef d’État prendra du temps à être comblée, selon M. Lebrun, car, dit-il, Me Alexandre avait maîtrisé, avec intelligence, les principes du droit et de ses branches cardinales.
De son côté, l’ancien titulaire du Ministère de la Justice et de la Sécurité Publique, Pierre-Michel BRUNACHE, a déclaré que ce qui lui a surtout marqué c’est la passion, sans égal, que l’ancien Chef d’État avait pour l’éducation surtout dans l’enseignement du Droit. Pour le gendre du défunt, il était un professeur exceptionnel bien avant d’être un magistrat chevronné et un serviteur de la patrie.
À rappeler que le premier ministre Ariel HENRY n’a pas pu assister à l’intégralité de la cérémonie funéraire. Il était contraint de laisser la cérémonie avant sa fin, en raison des habitants de Carrefour-Feuilles qui voulaient se rendre à la Cour de Cassation pour manifester leurs mécontentements, mais les agents de CIMO et UDMO ont fait usage de gaz lacrymogènes pour les empêcher de se rendre sur les lieux. Outre cela, la dépouille de Boniface ALEXANDRE n’a pas pu être enterré dans sa ville natale, car la dégradation de la situation sécuritaire dans la commune de Croix-des-Bouquets a contraint la famille du natif de Ganthier à agir, jusqu’à présent, autrement.
