Le gouvernement colombien a entrepris des démarches pour rapatrier les anciens militaires colombiens emprisonnés en Haïti depuis 2021, suite à leur implication dans l’assassinat du Président Jovenel Moïse. Cette information a été confirmée par le ministre des Affaires étrangères, Luis Gilberto Murillo.
Pour atteindre cet objectif, le chancelier colombien prévoit de rencontrer le Premier ministre haïtien, Garry Conille, afin de conclure un accord qui permettrait aux détenus de purger leur peine en Colombie.
De plus, les proches de ces 18 anciens militaires ont manifesté, jeudi dernier, devant le siège des bureaux de l’ONU pour protester contre les mauvaises conditions de détention qu’ils subissent. Il est à noter que ces Colombiens ont choisi de ne pas s’évader lors de la prise d’assaut du Pénitencier national le 4 mars de cette année, contrairement aux 4 000 détenus qui se sont échappés.
