Le Président du Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), Son Excellence Monsieur Leslie VOLTAIRE, a inauguré le vendredi 17 janvier 2025 le Port international de Saint-Louis-du-Sud, un projet attendu depuis plus de 30 ans. Lors de cet événement marquant, il a prononcé un discours fort, empreint d’émotion et de détermination. La cérémonie s’est tenue en présence de plusieurs personnalités importantes, dont le Ministre des Travaux Publics, le Ministre de l’Économie, le Directeur Général par intérim de la Police Nationale d’Haïti, ainsi que des acteurs clés du Grand Sud.
Dans son discours, Leslie VOLTAIRE a d’abord exprimé sa profonde gratitude envers tous ceux et toutes celles qui ont contribué à la réalisation de ce méga projet. Il l’a décrit comme un moteur essentiel pour transformer le Grand Sud en une région économiquement indépendante. Dans cette optique, il a présenté trois nouveaux « Généraux » qui joueront des rôles clés dans la mise en œuvre des projets connexes : Alfred METELLUS pour les finances, Raphaël HOSTY pour les infrastructures et Paul Antoine BIEN-AIMÉ pour l’urbanisme, les zones résidentielles, les parcs industriels et logistiques, ainsi que l’agrandissement de l’aéroport international.
M. VOLTAIRE n’a pas seulement célébré l’inauguration, il a aussi présenté une vision ambitieuse pour l’avenir. Il a annoncé que des études débuteront dès cette année pour agrandir la piste d’atterrissage actuellement longue de 1 000 mètres. L’objectif est d’étendre cette piste entre 2 750 et 3 000 mètres. Cela nécessitera la déclaration d’utilité publique d’une vaste zone que l’État devra acquérir pour développer les infrastructures aéroportuaires, ainsi que la construction d’une nouvelle aérogare.
