Haïti-Sécurité: Colère populaire à Gérald Bataille, un quartier qui défie la hiérarchie policière
Une vive agitation a secoué la zone de Gérald Bataille, dans la matinée de ce lundi 9 juin 2025, à la suite d’une tentative controversée de remplacement du chef de poste local de la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH), l’Inspecteur Ronaldson, surnommé « Ti Pike ». Le Commissaire Dadou, ex-responsable du commissariat de Carrefour de l’Aéroport, aurait été désigné pour lui succéder, une décision immédiatement contestée par la population locale.
Dès les premières heures de la journée, plusieurs centaines de riverains sont descendus dans les rues, érigeant des barricades et incendiant des pneus à quatre intersections stratégiques du carrefour de Gérald Bataille. Armés de branches d’arbres et de slogans, les manifestants ont exprimé leur rejet catégorique de ce changement, qu’ils perçoivent comme une menace directe à la stabilité de leur quartier.
Selon de nombreux résidents, l’Inspecteur Ronaldson, en poste depuis plusieurs années, incarne une rare figure d’autorité respectée dans cette zone longtemps vulnérable aux incursions de groupes armés. « Ti Pike, Gérald la se pou ou ! Kale moudaw jan w vle ! », scandaient les protestataires, traduisant leur attachement à celui qu’ils décrivent comme un acteur clé du maintien de la sécurité locale.
Les manifestants accusent l’État d’avoir pris une décision « arbitraire et dangereuse » sans consultation préalable. Ils affirment que le Commissaire désigné, Dadou, n’a pas su maîtriser l’insécurité dans sa précédente juridiction, particulièrement affectée par l’emprise des gangs. « Si nous laissons passer ce changement, c’est comme livrer Gérald Bataille aux bandits », s’est indigné un habitant, visiblement inquiet.
En réponse à l’escalade de tensions, des unités de la PNH ont été déployées depuis la route de Maïs Gaté. Des tirs ont été entendus dans la cour du commissariat lors d’une tentative de dispersion de la foule. Plusieurs incidents de brutalités policières ont été rapportés. Des témoins affirment qu’une jeune femme a été giflée par un agent, tandis que d’autres manifestants auraient été violemment repoussés.
Malgré une accalmie apparente vers la mi-journée, la situation demeure précaire. Quelques dizaines de protestataires continuaient de battre des marmites et de scander des slogans devant le poste de police, alors que le trafic reprenait lentement dans la zone.
Cet épisode dépasse le simple cadre d’un changement de personnel policier. Il met en lumière une défiance croissante entre l’État et certaines communautés locales, qui perçoivent les décisions administratives comme déconnectées de leurs réalités sécuritaires. À Gérald Bataille, comme ailleurs dans la capitale, le maintien de la paix semble désormais aussi dépendre de figures locales de confiance que de la chaîne officielle de commandement.
