En marge de la 55e session ordinaire de l’Assemblée Générale de l’Organisation des États Américains (OEA), le Ministre des Affaires Étrangères, Jean-Victor Harvel JEAN-BAPTISTE, multiplie les rencontres diplomatiques afin de rallier un appui international face à la crise multidimensionnelle que traverse Haïti.
Depuis le 25 juin 2025, le Chancelier haïtien a eu une série d’entretiens avec des responsables de haut niveau, pour discuter des enjeux sécuritaires, humanitaires et institutionnels du pays. Parmi les temps forts, sa rencontre avec le Secrétaire Général de l’OEA, Albert RAMDIN, a permis d’avancer sur l’élaboration d’un plan d’action global pour faire face à l’urgence nationale.
En outre, il a échangé, le 26 juin dernier, avec Sabine SPARWASSER, Envoyée Spéciale de l’Allemagne pour l’Amérique latine et les Caraïbes, qui a réaffirmé le soutien de son pays, notamment à travers sa participation à la Mission Multinationale d’Appui à la sécurité (MMAS).
Le même jour, le Diplomate de carrière a rencontré Maria Laura Da ROCHA, Secrétaire Générale des Relations Extérieures du Brésil. Les discussions ont porté sur la coopération bilatérale en matière de sécurité, d’éducation, de santé, d’agriculture et de développement, dans la continuité du sommet Brésil-Caraïbes tenu le 13 juin à Brasilia. Les deux parties ont également souligné l’importance d’une meilleure coordination entre l’OEA, l’ONU, la CELAC et l’Union Européenne.
Jean-Victor Harvel JEAN-BAPTISTE a également échangé avec Miroslav JENČA, Sous-Secrétaire Général de l’ONU. Ils ont abordé trois sujets majeurs : le renouvellement du mandat du Bureau Intégré des Nations Unies en Haïti (BINUH), la transformation de la MMAS en opération de maintien de la paix (OMP), ainsi que la préparation des prochaines élections.
D’autres échanges ont eu lieu avec le Ministre des Affaires Étrangères du Costa Rica, Arnoldo André TINOCO, autour d’une coopération sécuritaire bilatérale, ainsi qu’avec la Ministre colombienne Laura Sarabia TORRES, sur un projet de plan d’action conjoint soutenu par l’OEA.
