Rencontre au Vatican entre le Pape FRANÇOIS et Leslie VOLTAIRE : Un moment symbolique pour Haïti
Le Président du Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), Leslie VOLTAIRE, a rencontré le Pape FRANÇOIS ce samedi 25 janvier 2025, au Palais apostolique du Vatican. L’audience privée, d’une durée de vingt minutes, intervient dans un contexte de crise politique et sécuritaire en Haïti.
Le Pape a offert au Président du CPT un bas-relief en bronze intitulé « Dialogue entre les générations » ainsi que plusieurs documents pontificaux, dont un livre sur la Statio Orbis du 27 mars 2020 et un volume sur l’appartement papal. En revanche, le Conseiller-Président lui a remis des livres photographiques sur la culture et le patrimoine haïtiens.
Après l’audience, Leslie VOLTAIRE a échangé avec des hauts responsables du Vatican, dont le cardinal Pietro PAROLIN, Secrétaire d’État, et Mgr Paul Richard GALLAGHER, Secrétaire pour les Relations avec les États. Les discussions ont porté sur la situation sociopolitique d’Haïti, les défis humanitaires et les efforts internationaux pour lutter contre la violence des gangs.
M. VOLTAIRE a souligné le rôle crucial de l’Église catholique face aux défis actuels du pays. Cette visite s’inscrit dans une tournée en Europe visant à renforcer les relations internationales d’Haïti.
Après le Vatican, M. VOLTAIRE se rendra en France pour rencontrer le Président Emmanuel MACRON.
