Dans son premier film « Ti Toya »,
Michel Dessources Junior, producteur et metteur en scène rend un vibrant hommage à la liberté humaine et féminine. Pour s’y faire, il s’inspire des relations avec sa grand-mère et des histoires que celle-ci lui racontait sur la vie paysanne pour réaliser un film à Léogane en 2020. Cette œuvre retrace la force de caractère d’une femme qui symbolise la détermination de toute celle qui vit dans la paysannerie haïtienne.
Amant de la nature, Michel Dessources Junior a fait remarqué que son enfance était bercée par des films mettant en valeur la beauté de la paysannerie comme: «Lavi Nan Bouk» et «Sonson», qui ont marqué l’histoire de l’audiovisuel en Haïti.
Ce qui inspire ainsi l’auteur à lancer un vibrant hommage aux femmes Haïtiennes dans son film « Ti Toya », et rendant aussi hommage à la majestueuse prêtresse vodou « Grann Toya », la protectrice de l’Empereur Dessalines qui est une véritable révérence artistique à la résistance des femmes paysannes exposées aux violences et aux abus des hommes.
Dans «Ti Toya» dont le rôle principal est accordé à Viola Odatte, jeune étudiante en médecine, l’auteur souligne que l’actrice témoigne d’une personnalité féminine, dotée d’une grande force de caractère et d’une présence scénique remarquable.
Laissant la tradition masculine qui caractérise le cinéma haïtien, ce film présente le monde rural à partir d’un prisme féminin, pourvu de vigueur, de vivacité, d’un projet de société qui fait de l’égalité entre les hommes et les femmes, la base fondatrice.
La place de « Ti Toya » dans le milieu audiovisuel
Honoré et récompensé à travers le monde, le court-métrage Ti Toya, a obtenu le premier prix du Little Haiti, Brooklyn, prix public au Festival Nouvelles Vues qui s’est tenu en Haïti en 2020 et d’une reconnaissance dans les Caraïbes, en Amérique latine, dans le continent européen et à Los Angeles, aux États-Unis d’Amérique.
Aussi l’auteur nous fait remarquer que « la réalisation de ce film n’a été possible qu’avec le support de graph city, représenté par Jean Paul Laraque, Hugues Robert Marsan et autres…
La vision égalitaire de Ti Toya
Quant au niveau du fond et de la forme le cinéaste nous propose un décor réaliste à travers des photographies qui cristallisent le vécu de Ti Toya dans son intimité la plus totale.
De même, avec « Ti Jocelyne » de l’horchestre tropicana, « Madanm » de John Steve Brunache qui fait un rappel de l’omniprésence du vaudou dans le film : «Ti Toya, une œuvre réaliste mise au service du fantastique pour mieux proposer un idéal de vivre ensemble fondé sur le respect des droits de la femme dans le réel ».
Selon Michel Dessources Junior, les difficultés pour trouver des moyens financiers sont multiples mais il faut des actions si l’on veut réaliser un projet. Il importe conclut-il de croire dans ce qu’on fait, de collaborer avec d’autres, de travailler en équipe car sans équipe, il n’y aura pas de succès.
