Bilan du Voyage Présidentiel de Smith Augustin : Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024 et Renforcement des Alliances
Le Conseiller-Président a effectué un séjour en France du 25 au 27 juillet 2024 pour participer à une série d’événements officiels liés à l’ouverture des Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024. Lors de son point de presse tenu ce lundi, il a remercié les autorités françaises, le comité organisateur des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de Paris 2024 ainsi que le Comité Olympique International pour leur invitation et l’accueil chaleureux.
Représentant Haïti dans la catégorie des Chefs d’État, le Conseiller-Président était à la tête d’une délégation composée entre autres, de la ministre de la jeunesse et des sports, Mme Lynn Octavius et des membres de leurs cabinets. Son agenda à Paris a été particulièrement chargé. Dès son arrivée le 25 juillet, il a participé au Sommet sur « le Sport et le Développement durable » au Palais du Louvre, en présence du Président Emmanuel Macron et de nombreux Chefs d’État et de Gouvernement. Ce sommet a abordé des thèmes clés tels que l’éducation, l’égalité, l’emploi, le financement et la durabilité, concluant par « L’Appel de Paris pour le Développement durable par le sport ».
Le soir du 25 juillet, il a été invité par le Président du Comité Olympique International, Thomas Bach, à un dîner avec les Chefs d’État et de Gouvernement présents à Paris pour les Jeux Olympiques. Le lendemain, le 26 juillet, le Conseiller-Président a assisté à une réception au Palais de l’Élysée et accueilli par le Président Emmanuel Macron et son épouse, Brigitte Macron. En soirée, il a assisté à la cérémonie d’ouverture des Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024, exprimant sa fierté pour la délégation olympique haïtienne.
Pendant son séjour, le Conseiller-Président a eu des échanges significatifs avec plusieurs Chefs d’État et de Gouvernement ainsi que des dirigeants d’organisations internationales. Il a discuté avec le Président Emmanuel Macron du soutien de la France à Haïti en matière de sécurité et du déploiement de la Force Multinationale de Soutien à la Sécurité en Haïti. Il a également eu des discussions constructives avec le Président de la Guinée-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, le Président de Transition du Gabon, Général Brice Oligui Nguema, et le Président du Sénégal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, sur le renforcement des relations bilatérales et le soutien à Haïti.
Le Conseiller-Président a aussi eu des échanges prometteurs avec le Président du Conseil Européen, Charles Michel, le Président du Rwanda, Paul Kagame, et le Président de la Colombie, Gustavo Petro, tous exprimant leur solidarité avec Haïti. Il a rencontré des dirigeants d’organisations internationales, dont le Secrétaire général des Nations Unies, Antonio Guterres, et la Secrétaire générale de l’Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, Louise Mushikiwabo, pour discuter du soutien à Haïti.
S’agussant du scandale de trafic d’influence au niveau de la BNC, il a rejeté catégoriquement les rumeurs et allégations jugées infondées circulant à son encontre pendant son séjour, les qualifiant d’attaques politiquement motivées. Il a remercié sa famille, ses proches et ses collègues politiques pour leur soutien et leur confiance renouvelée. Le Conseiller-Président a conclu en soulignant que le pays doit se concentrer sur ses priorités et trouver des solutions urgentes à ses problèmes, tout en traversant ensemble cette période de perturbations politiques pour un avenir meilleur pour Haïti.
