Affrontements entre police et bandits : un policier abattu
Des combats intenses ont éclaté, ce jeudi 5 septembre 2024, au centre de la capitale haïtienne, opposant les forces de l’ordre à des gangs lourdement armés. Les affrontements, particulièrement violents, ont eu lieu dans plusieurs quartiers de Port-au-Prince, notamment les rues Magloire Ambroise, Nicolas, et d’autres zones avoisinantes. Au cours de ces échanges, un policier a perdu la vie, tandis qu’un autre agent ainsi que plusieurs civils ont été blessés.
Le policier tué est identifié comme étant Wisly Villefranche, un membre de la Brigade d’Intervention du Commissariat de Port-au-Prince. Il a été abattu alors qu’il tentait de riposter aux attaques des bandits dans la rue Magloire Ambroise, selon les informations disponibles.
Il est à noter qu’un des agents blessés par balle a été transporté d’urgence à l’hôpital. Cependant, son état de santé et son identité n’ont pas encore été divulgués.
Les échanges de tirs ont aussi fait des victimes parmi les passants, qui se sont retrouvés pris au piège au milieu de ces affrontements. Plusieurs civils ont été touchés, certains grièvement blessés, tandis que d’autres tentent encore de se mettre à l’abri.
