Le Rectorat de l’Université d’État d’Haïti (RUEH) a annoncé, dans une correspondance rendue publique le 17 avril dernier, la suspension de ses relations avec l’École de Droit et des Sciences Économiques des Cayes (EDSEC), en raison de la situation dételère qui existe depuis plusieurs années à l’EDSEC au niveau académique et administratif.
L’École de Droit et des Sciences Économiques des Cayes, fondée en 1894 et déclarée d’utilité publique par le décret de 1948, est une institution rattachée à l’université d’État d’Haïti proposant les filières suivantes : le Droit et l’Économie.
Dans une correspondance datée du 17 Avril 2023, le Rectorat de l’Université d’État d’Haïti a annoncé au grand public que ses relations sont suspendues avec la communauté de l’École de Droit et des Sciences Économiques des Cayes. La décision de suspendre les relations avec L’EDSEC a été prise à la suite d’une résistance de ses dirigeants face aux réformes proposées par le RUEH.
« Considérant les lettres du Conseil Exécutif aux dirigeants de l’EDSEC en date du 25 Janvier 2023, et du 3 Avril 2023 dont les contenus ont été clairement explicités lors de la rencontre du 3 Mars 2023; Considérant la résistance des dirigeants aux réformes proposées; Considérant les avertissements maintes fois formulés par le Conseil Exécutif et leur non- prise en compte par les dirigeants de L’EDSEC »;
« Considérant l’impossibilité de garantir la dispensation d’un enseignement répondant aux normes académiques et élémentaires dans les conditions actuelles; Considérant qu’aucun individu, aucune famille ne peut être autorisé à trafiquer les intérêts de toute une communauté d’étudiants et de professeurs; Le conseil exécutif de l’UEH a résolu de suspendre ses relations avec l’École de Droit et des Sciences Economiques des Cayes et d’interdire à l’EDSEC de faire usage du nom et du logo de l’UEH.
« Il est désormais interdit aux dirigeants de l’EDSEC d’utiliser le nom et le logo de l’UEH sous peine de sanctions prévues par la loi », a-t-on pu lire dans la correspondance.
Les résolutions ont été signées par le Vice-Recteur aux affaires académiques, Jean Poincy, le Vice-Recteur à la recherche, Jacques Blaise et le Recteur Fritz Deshommes, formant le Conseil Exécutif de l’UEH.
Par ailleurs, selon le RUEH, la dite institution, au delà des individus, est un patrimoine appartenant à la ville des Cayes et à tout le département du Sud.
Toutefois, le Rectorat se dit disposer à entendre les doléances des corps constitutifs de la communauté de l’École de Droit et des Sciences Économiques des Cayes, dans le souci de prendre en compte leurs intérêts et ceux de l’École dans le strict respect des normes académiques élémentaires.
