Le Président américain, Donald TRUMP a annoncé, ce samedi 1er février 2025, un accord avec le Venezuela sur les expulsions de migrants illégaux. Cette déclaration a été faite via le réseau social Truth Social. Le Venezuela a accepté de reprendre ses citoyens expulsés des États-Unis, y compris des criminels. Cet accord marque un tournant dans les relations tendues entre les deux pays.
Des négociations ont eu lieu entre Richard GRENELL, Envoyé spécial de TRUMP, et Nicolás MADURO. Ces discussions ont aussi conduit à la libération de six Américains détenus au Venezuela. Aucune contrepartie financière n’a été annoncée dans cet accord.
Parmi les expulsés figureraient des membres du gang criminel vénézuélien « Tren de Aragua ». Ce gang est impliqué dans de nombreuses activités illégales aux États-Unis. Leur expulsion s’inscrit dans une politique de sécurité renforcée.
Alors que Nicolás MADURO s’était auparavant opposé aux vols de déportation américains, Donald TRUMP affirme que tous les pays acceptent désormais leurs ressortissants expulsés par les États-Unis. Cette décision renforce sa politique de lutte contre l’immigration clandestine. Il a mentionné des chiffres records d’expulsions sous son administration.
Il est à souligner que Donald TRUMP passe de la parole aux actes, s’appuyant sur sa campagne présidentielle de 2024. Il cherche maintenant à prouver son efficacité contre l’immigration illégale. Cet accord avec le Venezuela, selon plusieurs experts, pourrait renforcer son image auprès des conservateurs.
