Dans le cadre de la visite du Président colombien Gustavo PETRO en Haïti, le mercredi 22 janvier 2025, une rencontre historique a eu lieu entre Gustavo PETRO et le Président du Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), Leslie Voltaire. Plusieurs points cruciaux ont été abordés lors de cette rencontre de haut niveau.
Les deux pays ont réussi à signer un protocole d’entente entre plusieurs ministères.
Un accord entre les ministères de l’agriculture vise à renforcer la sécurité alimentaire par des échanges de connaissances et des initiatives concrètes, tout en soutenant l’agriculture paysanne et en promouvant la commercialisation rurale.
Ils ont également signé un mémorandum d’entente concernant des projets environnementaux, notamment la restauration écologique et les énergies renouvelables, parmi d’autres domaines d’intérêt commun.
Sur le plan culturel, les deux pays ont exprimé leur volonté de promouvoir des échanges culturels, en soulignant l’importance du rôle historique d’Haïti dans l’indépendance de l’Amérique latine.
En matière de sécurité, un protocole d’accord a été signé pour renforcer la coopération bilatérale dans la formation des forces de sécurité et la lutte contre les crimes transnationaux.
Les discussions ont également porté sur l’éducation, avec un accent particulier sur la création d’opportunités éducatives pour les jeunes haïtiens, l’apprentissage de l’espagnol, le développement de l’éducation virtuelle et la collaboration entre les institutions universitaires des deux pays.
Le commerce n’a pas été en reste : les deux pays se sont engagés à intensifier les échanges commerciaux et à soutenir les petites et moyennes entreprises.
Le Président Gustavo PETRO a également exprimé la volonté de la Colombie de soutenir les efforts humanitaires en Haïti, notamment en ce qui concerne les personnes déplacées et les expatriés.
Le Président colombien a remercié le peuple haïtien pour l’accueil chaleureux qu’il lui a réservé et a réaffirmé l’engagement de la Colombie à accompagner Haïti dans ses efforts de stabilisation et de développement.
De son côté, le Président Leslie Voltaire a souligné l’importance de cette visite, qui renforcera les relations entre les deux pays, au bénéfice des peuples haïtien et colombien.
