La modernisation des infrastructures aéroportuaires du Cap-Haïtien au coeur des discussions à Miami

Des discussions fructueuses ont eu lieu à Washington le 20 janvier dernier, entre le Conseiller-Président Fritz Alphonse JEAN et le Président de la Banque Interaméricaine de Développement (BID), dans le but de moderniser les infrastructures aéroportuaires du Cap-Haïtien. En ce qui concerne les discussions, une mission stratégique d’IDB Invest a été envoyée à Miami le mercredi 22 janvier 2025. 

 

L’objectif était de mettre en place les premières discussions sur le réaménagement de l’aéroport du Cap-Haïtien et de prévoir la construction d’un nouvel aéroport standardisé.

L’objectif de ce projet est de stimuler les infrastructures aéroportuaires du Nord d’Haïti, tout en encourageant une collaboration entre les acteurs de la diaspora et le secteur privé haïtien.

Plusieurs personnalités influentes et experts dans différents domaines ont pris part à cette rencontre présidée par le Conseiller-Président Fritz Alphonse JEAN. Il s’agissait de:
– Joe Celestin, Directeur Général de NCEF ;
– Miguel A. Southwell, Expert en aviation et ancien Directeur Général de l’aéroport d’Atlanta ;
– Harold Charles, Gestionnaire aéroportuaire et ancien propriétaire de Sky-King Airline (Turks and Caicos) ;
– Ricardo Bruno Zephir, Expert en télécommunications et Président de U2C Mobile ;
– Fred Beliard, Président du Fatima Group ;
– Rafael Guzman, Président de Cibao Atlántico ;
– Elizabeth Robberechts, Cheffe de division chez IDB Invest.

Lors de cette réunion, les discussions ont porté sur la rénovation de l’aéroport existant de Cap-Haïtien, dans le but de répondre aux besoins urgents de la région en matière de transport aérien et de logistique et de planifier un nouvel aéroport international, une infrastructure qui positionnera le Nord d’Haïti comme une destination touristique et économique internationale.

Le projet est soutenu par un consortium d’entrepreneurs de la diaspora et d’investisseurs locaux, et incarne une volonté de renforcer la connectivité aérienne d’Haïti tout en stimulant le développement économique régional.

Les discussions entamées à Miami représentent une avancée majeure dans la mise en œuvre de ce projet stratégique. Les résultats des consultations seront présentés aux parties prenantes et à la BID pour validation et mise en œuvre progressive.

Ce partenariat public-privé s’inscrit dans une vision moderne et inclusive et démontre l’engagement du gouvernement de transition à développer des infrastructures à la mesure du potentiel économique et touristique d’Haïti.
