Un souffle d’espoir pour le système de santé haïtien. L’Organisation Panaméricaine de la Santé (OPS) et l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS) ont acheminé, le jeudi 20 février 2025, plus de 7,5 tonnes de médicaments, vaccins et intrants médicaux à Port-au-Prince. Cette cargaison marque l’arrivée du premier vol humanitaire depuis la fermeture de l’aéroport en novembre dernier.
Les médicaments essentiels seront destinés aux services d’urgence de l’Hôpital Universitaire de la Paix (HUP), afin d’améliorer la prise en charge des patients en situation critique. Les vaccins, notamment ceux contre le rotavirus, le pneumocoque, la polio orale et la rage, seront distribués aux établissements de santé pour renforcer la vaccination de routine et prévenir la propagation des maladies infectieuses.
Cette opération humanitaire a été possible grâce à l’appui logistique du Programme Alimentaire Mondial (PAM) au Panama. Elle a également bénéficié d’un soutien financier de plusieurs partenaires internationaux, notamment EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid, le Fonds UNCERF, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, ainsi que le gouvernement fédéral du Brésil.
Alors que cette livraison constitue une avancée majeure pour la santé publique en Haïti, les besoins restent immenses. L’accès aux soins demeure un défi quotidien pour de nombreux Haïtiens, soulignant l’importance d’une mobilisation continue de la communauté internationale pour soutenir le système de santé du pays.
