Alors que l’on s’approche de la fin de l’année, les acteurs haïtiens ne parviennent pas à trouver un nœud gordien à la crise en dépit des efforts déployés à cet effet. Le pays risque de connaître un énième 7 février, date importante dans la vie politique haïtienne, sans un compromis politique pouvant fiver la gouvernabilité d’Haïti jusqu’au renouvellement du personnel politique. Face á cette situation, de plus en plus, des personnalités se prononcent sur la conjoncture délétère du pays.
En effet, dans une correspondance adressée au président américain, Joe Biden, plusieurs congressman interpellent sur la situation actuelle d’Haïti. Dans cette correspondance paraphée par les sénateurs Edward J. Markey (Démocrate du Mass.); le révérend Raphael Warnock (Démocrate de Géorgie); John Hickenlooper (Démocrate du Colorado), Elizabeth Warren (Démocrate du Mass.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) et Chris Van Hollen (Démocrate du Maryland), les démocrates mettent à nu l’incapacité du premier ministre Ariel Henry à mettre en place un gouvernement issu d’un compromis politique capable d’organiser les élections en vue du rétablissement de l’ordre constitutionnel.
Pour ces démocrates, toute démarche visant à déployer une force multinationale dans le pays ne fera que cautionner l’illégitimité et l’incapacité du docteur Ariel Henry, premier ministre de facto, à la tête du pays.
“ En septembre de cette année, vous avez demandé aux Nations Unies d’approuver la mission de soutien à la sécurité qui en a résulté pour aider Haïti à endiguer la montée de la violence des gangs. Cependant, sans un gouvernement fonctionnel et démocratiquement élu, une mission de sécurité internationale ne répondra pas suffisamment à la complexité de la crise actuelle et pourrait effectivement renforcer le régime illégitime et inefficace d’Henry. Haïti a besoin d’un gouvernement de transition crédible auprès du peuple haïtien et doté de la capacité et de la volonté d’organiser des élections libres et équitables”, mentionnent-ils dans leur lettre.
Ces élus américains mettent en doute la volonté du premier ministre à résoudre la crise multidimensionnelle qui ronge le pays et, en des termes à peine voilés, exigent sa démission et plaident en faveur d’un gouvernement consensuel pour diriger la transition.
Par conséquent, l’administration Biden devrait suspendre son support au gouvernement de facto d’Ariel Henry, selon l’esprit de la lettre.
