Gestion des déchets: nécessité de réhabiliter le site de décharge de Trutier face au risque sanitaire et environnemental
Le site de décharge de Truitier, situé à proximité de Port-au-Prince, représente depuis des années une menace sérieuse pour l’environnement et la santé publique. Le Service National de Gestion des Résidus Solides (SNGRS) alerte les autorités gouvernementales sur la nécessité urgente de réhabiliter ce site, transformé en un véritable désastre écologique.
Le problème va bien au-delà de la simple gestion des déchets. La fermeture récente du site sauvage de Laboule 12 a relancé les débats autour de l’absence d’une vision à long terme pour la gestion des déchets en Haïti. L’histoire récente du pays montre que les défaillances des infrastructures peuvent rapidement conduire à des crises sanitaires de grande ampleur.
Le SNGRS rappelle notamment l’épidémie de choléra, introduite par la MINUSTAH et aggravée par le manque d’infrastructures sanitaires adaptées. L’institution croit que la réhabilitation du site devient plus pressante que jamais.
Ce site à ciel ouvert continue de polluer les nappes phréatiques et représente une menace constante pour la santé des populations vivant dans les zones environnantes. La sécurisation de cet espace n’est pas seulement une mesure environnementale, mais aussi un impératif de santé publique.
Le SNGRS plaide en faveur d’une réforme profonde de la gestion des déchets à l’échelle nationale. La construction de décharges modernes est présentée comme une solution indispensable pour prévenir de futures crises sanitaires et offrir à la population un environnement plus sûr et plus sain.
Au-delà de l’urgence immédiate, la réhabilitation de Truitier incarne la volonté de refondre complètement la gestion des déchets en Haïti. Bien que ce défi soit de taille, il est essentiel pour garantir la santé et la sécurité des générations à venir.
