7 juillet 2021 – 7 juillet 2025. Voilà quatre ans qu’un Président en exercice a été assassiné dans sa résidence privée, au cœur de la capitale d’Haïti. Quatre ans qu’un Chef d’État a été criblé de balles, torturé, humilié, sous le regard passif, voire complice des unités censées assurer sa protection. Et pourtant, quatre ans plus tard, l’impensable demeure sans réponse.
Personne ne sait. Ou plutôt personne ne dit. Pas un mot clair sur les responsabilités internes. Pas une explication sur l’inaction des forces de sécurité présentes, cette nuit-là. Pas de vérité sur la survivance miraculeuse de l’ex-première dame, blessée mais épargnée. Pas de procès en Haïti. Pas de justice.
Ce 7 juillet 2025, le pays se rappelle, à travers une messe de requiem annoncée par le Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), l’un des épisodes les plus sombres de sa vie politique récente. Mais la mémoire ne suffit pas. L’indignation ne suffit plus. La question reste entière : qui a tué Jovenel MOÏSE ? Et surtout, qui le couvre encore ?
Les enquêtes américaines, elles, ont avancé. Six accusés sont déjà condamnés aux États-Unis, cinq autres attendent leur jugement. Pendant ce temps, en Haïti, c’est le surplace. L’impasse. L’oubli institutionnalisé.
Le crime est transnational, dit-on. La procédure haïtienne est inadaptée, admet-on. Le climat politique et sécuritaire est trop instable, répète-t-on. Mais ce sont là des excuses devenues des boucliers pour protéger l’impunité.
L’assassinat de Jovenel MOÏSE n’est pas seulement un drame personnel ou un scandale politique. C’est une blessure ouverte dans le cœur même de la République. Un crime contre l’État, contre la souveraineté nationale, contre la démocratie.
Quatre ans après, Haïti ne peut plus se contenter de cérémonies symboliques et de gestes creux. Il est temps que l’État haïtien, dans ce qu’il lui reste de forces et de conscience, réclame sa vérité, exige sa justice et restaure sa dignité.
Car un pays qui ne peut protéger ses présidents, ni juger leurs assassins, n’est pas un État. C’est une zone d’ombre. Et dans l’ombre, la démocratie ne peut survivre.
