La Fondation Lorquet pour une Nouvelle Haïti (FOLONHA) applaudi la proposition faites par les congresswomen Jan Schakowsky, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick et Yvette Clarke. Elles ont récemment présenté une résolution visant à instaurer un programme baptisé: Plan d’investissement Louverture pour la reconstruction d’Haïti avec un budget de 50 milliards de dollars sur 10 ans.
Port-au-Prince, le 21 mai 2024- La représentante américaine Jan Schakowsky et les coprésidentes du Caucus Haïti, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick et Yvette Clarke, ont présenté le 17 mai dernier, une résolution visant à créer le Plan d’Investissement Louverture. Cette initiative vise à reconstruire Haïti sur une période de 10 ans avec un budget de 50 milliards de dollars.
Dans un communiqué rendu public le 20 mai 2024, la FOLONHA dit accueillir favorablement cette proposition, dont l’objectif est de stabiliser le pays, renforcer les institutions démocratiques et judiciaires, d’investir dans les infrastructures importantes, stimuler la croissance économique et améliorer les opportunités pour les femmes et les jeunes.
Les objectifs incluent aussi la stimulation de la croissance économique, l’amélioration des opportunités pour les femmes et les jeunes, et la construction de nouveaux ports, aéroports, autoroutes, tunnels, systèmes de transport modernes, et infrastructures électriques. Le plan prévoit également la construction d’hôpitaux modernes, d’universités de qualité, et de villes répondant aux standards internationaux.
« Au nom du peuple haïtien qui a tant souffert, la FOLONHA félicite ces Congresswomen qui ont démontré qu’elles sont de véritables amies d’Haïti. Nous les remercions pour avoir pensé pour la première fois à faire une telle proposition au Congrès des États-Unis en faveur de la première république noire du continent américain », lit-on dans le communiqué.
La FOLONHA encourage le Congrès des États-Unis à voter cette résolution dans les plus brefs délais afin d’offrir ce cadeau bien mérité à Haïti. Selon ladite fondation, cette proposition aura des effets bénéfiques pour notre pays. Elle aboutira à faire cesser de qualifier injustement Haïti d’un des pays les plus pauvres au monde.
