Dans le processus visant à poursuivre les démarches en vue d’aider Haïti à faire face à la crise politique, humanitaire et sécuritaire, le premier ministre canadien, M. Justin Trudeau, a annoncé de nouveaux financements au gouvernement haïtien.
La 44e réunion de la conférence des chefs de gouvernements de la CARICOM a eu lieu aux îles Bahamas, à Nassau, le 15 et 16 Février dernier. Lors de cette réunion, les discussions ont tourné principalement autour de l’appui des pays de la CARICOM, à Haïti. Le Premier ministre canadien, M. Justin Trudeau a annoncé des nouveaux financements pour remédier aux différentes crises auxquelles confrontent le pays.
Le Canada s’est engagé à fournir un financement de dix (10) millions de dollars à Haïti, pour la protection des femmes et des enfants haïtiens le long de la frontière entre Haïti et la République voisine. Le pays bénéficiera également une somme de 12,3 millions de dollars, pour répondre aux besoins sanitaires et nutritionnels des populations vulnérables, afin de contrecarrer la crise humanitaire qui sévit dans le pays.
À noter que cette somme sera également destinée aux besoins urgents et de sécurité, liés à la santé sexuelle et reproductive des femmes et des filles vulnérables. Les objectifs de ce financement de 12,3 millions de gourdes ont également pour objectif : de Prévenir la violence sur le sexe et a y réagir, fournir de l’eau, des services d’assainissements et d’hygiène pour lutter contre le choléra.
Entre autres, le Gouvernement canadien a promis de soutenir la Police National d’Haïti, pour renforcer la capacité de celle-ci, afin de faire face à la crise sécuritaire. Selon une annonce qui a été faite par le PM canadien, Haïti recevra les trois (3) autres véhicules résistants aux mines et protégé contre les ambuscades (PMPCE) qu’elle a acheté.
Deux navires de la marine royale canadienne de classe Kingston est arrivé en Haïti, ce Mercredi 03 Mars 2023, comme l’avait annoncé le PM Trudeau. Les deux ont pour mission de patrouiller dans la région métropolitaine afin de permettre une meilleure connaissance de la situation maritime du pays. « Les navires ont pour mission d’effectuer de la surveillance et collecter de l’information sur les activités des bandes criminelles qui déstabilisent le pays » a souligné le Premier Ministre Trudeau, le 16 Février, lors de son intervention à la 44e réunion de la CARICOM.
